Thank you! A few days ago, I saw the title of this thread go by on my RSS reader, and I thought "Oh, great! Someone is talking about Dragonbane." Yeah...it was me.

Great interview with the dude who runs Free League, talking about Dragonbane and other games his company produces. Free League's games are beautiful to behold. This is the only one I've played, and I love it. If anyone else is digging it, give this a listen. I was especially interested to learn...

But, surely, WotC is doing some kind of market research to determine if players like this sort of softer approach, right? I doubt they are pulling this out of thin air.

Everything changes, right? I can't imagine that Hasboro/WotC isn't responding to what they think their customers--present and future--want to see in their game. I have zero interest in the twee/cosy D&D imagery, but I'm one person with one opinion. We'll see how it all sells.

I understand what you are saying. But dwarves baking cookies is a very different vibe for D&D. That's not something that would ever occur to me to have in the PHB. Or anywhere else, really. If this is the kind of thing new(-ish) players want, have at it. Harms no one. I just find it--and the orc...

I guess I just don't understand how gentle it's all being made.

I saw some of the artwork--a multi-generational orc family, and dwarves working a forge while being served cookies. This is a very different game than it was! "Oh brave new world..."

Does anyone have the inside scoop on Chaosium Games' future plans re: virtual tabletops? I know they just released Pendragon on Roll20, but anyone have the skinny on whether or not they'll be adding Runequest, or BRP? I wasn't sure if there are others 'in the know' about this stuff. Thanks!

FINALLY the Ten-foot pole bit is available. I had almost given up hope.

I ran a Dragonbane mini-campaign this spring, and we enjoyed it. The rules are simple, and I found the lack of crunch made the players more willing to roleplay (rather than bring their characters to life via mechanics). Dragonbane is based on Chaosium's BRP system, which is my favorite.

Speculation: Greyhawk will be 'new' to the GenZ players, or at least to most of them. It is far less developed than other settings, and can be used to provide a loose outline for people to mess around with. Also, Greyhawk is attractive to old-heads like me. I had no intention of buying any of...

So...that makes me want to buy it. That's awesome. Hopefully they won't ruin it by filling it with sparkle-trolls. Greyhawk is gritty.

So my group just finished a Adventures in Middle Earth campaign, and it is very, very different than standard 5e (beyond just the Journey and Downtime rules). The classes are significantly limited and weakened (fewer bonus actions/reactions), and there is little to no magic available to the PCs...

They publish an amazing amount of stuff for such a small company. I am enjoying their work.
