    Strange thread behavior?

Clearly you're moving faster than the speed of light. Perhaps you're too busy lately? I suggest you take some time this weekend to slow down and smell the roses.

    Strange thread behavior?

Yeah, it's happened before when an article gets posted with a future timestamp. Somehow that messes with read/unread status of other threads, at least for some users. Previously, fixing the timestamp on the bad thread had fixed the issues with other threads. This time, however, the jankiness...

From the World of John Wick: Ballerina (2025) New Trailer

I was about to admit that I've never seen a singe F&F movie. But after this thoughtful analysis, I now understand its obvious reigning position in our culture. Truly I am an uncouth dolt, and now compelled to remedy my shameful ignorance!

What Brought You to EN World Today?

How I use ENWorld has changed a lot over the years. Currently, I mainly come here for: Gaming news. Socializing. Habit. EN World is (currently) #5 on the list of websites I cycle through daily. (Edit: I see you updated the survey options, so i changed my vote and post accordingly!)

How and why do you solo play?

Out of curiosity, do you tend to use bespoke solo RPGs or is there a particular systemless oracle type framework you prefer?

How and why do you solo play?

Tbh, I'm not too familiar with the history of it all, but like Duke_ said, I know the drive for solo play has been around since the beginning. Personally, I liked TolkeinQuest books as a kid in the 1980s; those were basically CYOA storybooks with a hex map to explore and stripped-down MERP...

How and why do you solo play?

Solo play has practically become a formal mode of play in its own right. There are RPGs focused mainly on solo play, as well as bolt-on frameworks to facilitate soloing in games normally meant for group play. Such systems might support individual adventures only, or ongoing campaign play; and...

Must You Tell Your Players What Adventure You Are Running?

Usually I've given players the option to know or not. On the campaign website, I've generally had a section marked "SUPER SEKRIT SPOILERZ!" or something, where I list whatever published material I'm referencing. They can choose to look at it or not.

    Non-magical fantasy subways

Something potentialy still functional? How handwavy? Maybe something that combines a clockwork elevator and cog train? A huge weight in a shaft at one end lowers and raises a train car along a cog rail on an incline; and/or huge weights in shafts at either end pull a train back and forth along a...

Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks Is Talking About AI in D&D Again

Only tangentially related, but kind of amusing: https://arstechnica.com/ai/2025/03/ai-coding-assistant-refuses-to-write-code-tells-user-to-learn-programming-instead/ TL;DR: Some users of a particular code editing AI (ie, for writing software) are reporting that it occasionally refuses to write...

    Psionics--the Poll!

Nah, not in general. shrug I've got no interest in psionics for my fantasy, and little use for it in most other genres. I suppose it's got some niche use in some specific sorts of horror or sci-fi, but isn't particularly necessary for me most of the time.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Arguments about snakes and bewbs goes back at least as far as the Garden of Eden.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Counterpoint: a distressing number of leaders nowadays seem to con their way into great wealth and power by doing just that.

D&D General Languages suck in D&D.

The way I've usually handled languages is just to assume that, for most 'ordinary' communications, there's enough time, motivation, and mutual vocab on both sides to communicate sufficiently. E.g., if you're haggling to buy equipment, the buyer and seller are going to figure it out, whether or...

D&D General Languages suck in D&D.

That's an amazing diagram! I've long struggled with how to do just this sort of thing when dealing with how game languages relate, and this approach is a beautiful way to summarize it. Thanks for sharing!

DriveThruRPG Print-on-Demand Prices Going Up By As Much As 50% In The US

Ah, right. I was expecting that for large-scale publishing. For some reason, though, i thought small-volume orders were mostly printed in the US for US customers, so I figured that would remain mostly unscathed. But I figured wrongly, apparently. Ink, equipment, etc, costs, I guess. Sigh.

DriveThruRPG Print-on-Demand Prices Going Up By As Much As 50% In The US

How strange. There's a handful of items on my dtrpg POD wishlist, so I'll go ahead and pull the trigger. Thanks for the heads up. Is this industry-wide? Any idea if other print services like Lulu, etc, will be affected?

Are you referring to the "Discover" function? I'd never noticed that before until now, heh.
