Assuming its allowed ive seen Elven Accuracy and vex weapons. Shortbow and hand crossbows. Elven accuracy and champion is s very potent combo with vicious weapons. Assuming their DM says yes.

Yah im looking at a tweak of that. The Warlick6/Dev Paladin 3 one big hit looks tempting as well. As you said youre weaker 7-10 and pure fighter seems very viable 11+. Its the when to splash with fighter is annoying. After level 5 or 6 but if you're going later F11 is tempting as well.

You know my opinion on being weaker at level 7-10;). On a fighter i think I want hex or hunters mark. Ranger dip on EK maybe. Also want to test the fighter built around shillagh where I can get hex via Fae Touched.

Haven't looked to hard at Waterdeep but the North and Anauroch. The North kinda reminds me a bit of Princes of the Apocalypse. Thought that adventure did a decent overview of the area. Descent into Avernus. Very mediocre adventure. Decent source book though

Have you read the 2E stuf or expanded 3E splats? They murder the 5E ones quality wise. Except maybe art. 3E frcs is very dense.

Yup PDK is a prestige class or background. Not riding a dragon. Or a Amethyst dragon. The purple dragon was a black one with a skin condition.
