Which are you, The plan everything out GM, or the Ad lib?

Neither really. I plan campaigns in broad strokes though I don't bother with every little detail because the PCs are going to muck things up. When I plan a scenario or even a campaign, I know what the bad guys are going to do if the PCs don't interfere with their plans. The NPCs will react...

    D&D 5E (2024) What should the 15th Class be?

I'm pretty much in agreement with the esteemed, Dr. Clint_L. I'm not opposed to new classes, but I don't feel as though all the classes currently available are equal and introducing new classes will likely just exacerbate the problem.

Fighting the Gray Tide (Miniature Painting)

Cake wasn’t on my bingo card, but I like the way you think. I went to one of the few rail road hobby shops here in Arkansas amd came across a Mothman model kit made by Pegasus Models. I could not resist. The kit came out in July, but I’ve managed to find a few people online who have painted...

Fighting the Gray Tide (Miniature Painting)

I’m going along another detour, painting in a different scale. Any guesses as to what it might be?

    IN REMEMBRANCE--2025

Keeping Up with Appearances was one of those British shows that had a lot of appeal to Americans. I always thought as one of my friend's mom as being similar to Mrs. Bucket as she was always concerned with everything being proper. But unlike Mrs. Bucket, my friend's mom never looked down on...

D&D General Charisma Checks gone Horribly Wrong - Can you Relate?

Generally speaking, I would agree. When I think of an important NPC, I usually try to have some idea of what's motivating them. And if the PC figures out what that motivation is or blunders onto it by accident, it'll make attempts at persuasion less difficult. Maybe the bomber is worried...

D&D General Charisma Checks gone Horribly Wrong - Can you Relate?

A big problem I used to have with my players was when they tried to play coy when gathering information. What I mean by that is they would try to get information from NPCs without revealing that they were looking for that particular information. i.e. They're looking for a man named Bob, but...

Fighting the Gray Tide (Miniature Painting)

I finished the skeleton bust. It was fun working in a different scale. I wanted to make the red on the helmet look like decorative leather, but it didn’t turn out like I’d hoped. I’m also wondering if the shield should be darker, but I can always do that later if I want.

Final highlight before application of a wash. I’m definitely not going with glowing eyes.

Fighting the Gray Tide (Miniature Painting)

I just wanted to quickly show how dry brushing can make a big difference. In the first photo above, the base color for the bones is is Army Painter Bootstrap Beown. I dry brushed some Army Painter Paratrooper Brown which is much lighter. Why not just start with Paratrooper Brown? Dry...

Fighting the Gray Tide (Miniature Painting)

And now for something a little different. This is a 1/10 scale skeleton bust made by Mindwork Studio. MS is what I’d describe as a boutique vendor producing high quality miniatures in limited runs. I’m elite now. This is my first bust, and I picked a skeleton because they don’t have any...
