    D&D General 6E But A + Thread

Sure, thats valid. We had however reached the stage where we wanted more control over our builds and party composition. Better/Worse playstyle? 🤷‍♂️

    D&D General 6E But A + Thread

Yeah, I've been in that era. Started a new group of players and both fighters showed up with double ought STR. Legit rolled they said. I mean, I think AD&D "begging" for high scores is why we went with 4d6, so yeah, there was some "cheating". After watching a guy try to qualify for paladin...

4d6, drop the lowest. Always rolled in front of the group.

D&D General D&D is now Steampunk (poll)

While I understand the points you make.... what if the dominance of D&D is just because people like it and have fun? Checkers players don't consider chess players arrogant (okay bad example, lol).

In a fantasy world filled with magic and miraculous beings, will the religious concepts of the locals be completely different from the human of Earth?

Hence why (although its an interesting topic) I keep the NPCs in the world very very low level.

3.5 and such "were" good toolkits. Until they grew so bloated and had so many modifiers it took 20 minutes to calculate your attack roll (I kid, I kid). Its my opinion that 5e brought all the way back around the circle to the toolkit format. Now before you say anything.... WotC is not...

D&D General D&D is now Steampunk (poll)

But most of us (although "I" know my history) aren't trying to recreate actual specific periods. I think it was in this thread that I mention it, we take a period of history, find some other stuff we like, put it in the campaign bowl and mix it all up. Its just a game.

Black Company RPG sneak peak at KamCon!

I liked it a lot, but sadly never got to run a campaign with it (yet).

I was there, I can validate.

It's always been an amalgamation. A pick and choose, a cornucopia! In other words, those who claim its set in a specific "setting" have only been correct for the game in which they played. Each edition may (like you say) have had a flavor, but even that flavor was a mixture of ideas and cool...

D&D General Tucker's Kobolds: worth using in 5e?

For context, research how fireballs expanded in AD&D, and Lightning Bolts bounced.

Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

I separate the concept of warlocks away from the paladins and clerics. Clerics and Paladins: ongoing flow of power (to an extent) Warlocks: trades, no take backs. This give the warlock more of the "gaining knowledge and eldritch secrets" vibe that I like them to have. And in this situation...

D&D General Tucker's Kobolds: worth using in 5e?

Agreed 100%. I always looked at Tucker's Kobolds as utilizing what they had cleverly. I will have to re read the story in case i missed unfair advantages such as you point out.
