Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 5th Edition Is Coming in 2026

This is excellent! With serious tidying up, clarifications and implementing various stuff from supplements to core, 5e might become a great and playable system. Looking forward to more details!

What are you reading in 2025?

I have a hard time enjoying audio books. The reasons are many, let’s just say reading text is an integral part of my reading pleasure. But I can’t read at the gym, so presto audio books while working out. Currently listening to LeGuins Earthsea books, an old favourite. After that I plan a...

D&D 5E (2024) Mike Mearls explains why your boss monsters die too easily

This is why I don’t play attrition based systems anymore.

Which are you, The plan everything out GM, or the Ad lib?

I do a good amount of pre-campaign prep setting the frames with factions, lots of major and minor NPCs with different goals, campaign start intrigues, conspiracies, and power struggles. The I let the PCs loose in the world, lean back, and just riff on my PCs actions, fears, paranoia, wrong...

What rpg system would you use for a 60+ session fantasy campaign?

My goto for all fantasy is Savage Worlds/Savage Pathfinder. The only exception is seriously gritty and grimdark stuff, where I'm Cinderellas foot for Warhammer Fantasys shoe.

How long before VTTs support TTRPGs with AI GMs?

I don’t use AI, and I’m pretty shure it will take a while for an AI GM to replace me, with my quirks and idiosyncrasies that make my player interactions and campaigns unique. And by then, I hope I still have a table of other old farts that prefer to play with people.

What is your favourite part of TTRPGing?

As a forever GM, it’s three major things: creating, playing and evolve fun, deep and interesting NPCs riffing on my players actions, thoughts, fears and paranoias to create dynamic intrigues, conspiracies and behind-the-scene machinations since my campaigns are sandboxy, being on the spur...

    Post Apocalypse Settings

If someone made a tactical, turnbased PC game based on the whole Car Wars Compendium with complete build rules, multiplayer and descent campaigns, I would have to divorce my wife and go into early retirement!

As others have said, Darwin’s World Nuclear Edition for Savage Worlds is my favourite PA setting, great stuff!

Spoilers Hey look, there's a new Robin Hood show coming with Sean Bean as the Sheriff!

A side track, but to me it’s REALLY offputting that nowadays every actor have a body like an olympian athlete, no matter what role or genre. It breaks my suspension of disbelief. Why do that dirt poor long time severe alcoholic uncle have a body like a triathlon gold medalist?

Spoilers Foundation Season 02 (Apple TV+) - SPOILERS

I’ve been lukewarm to S1 and S2, but hey it’s pretty scifi with a descent budget and ok actors, so I’ve watched it. But in S3 they’re actually pickingup enough winks and details from Asimovs body of work that I became interested, and I’m looking forward to S4.

    Genre Discussion: Cyberpunk

I hope I was clear that what I described was my personal feelings and experiences with the rpg genre, not meant to point any fingers at anyone other than myself. As always, as long as fun is had there is no badwrong, no matter what game system, genre or playstyle.

    Genre Discussion: Cyberpunk

Well, if you are a good guy it ain’t cyberpunk! It’s gray man, gray!

    Genre Discussion: Cyberpunk

This very much. I’m very coloured by good cyberpunk literature as to what makes up the genre, and it’s simply not (traditional) rpg friendly. If there is any combat at all, it’s short, brutal and sporadic. If there is a job/heist, it’s usually what the whole book leads up, and even then it’s not...

    Genre Discussion: Cyberpunk

I’ve been a deep fan of cyberpunk literature ever since Neuromancer blew my mind as a young teen, and like to think that I’m descently well versed in the literary genre. But I’ve never had fun playing cyberpunk rpgs. I guess that’s because the games never live up to what cyberpunk is to me...

    How Special Are The PCs?

As I’ve written elsewhere, the older I get the grittier and lower powered I make my campaigns. WFRP, Traveller, CoC. PCs are ordinary folks, with some degree of competence and possibly even very good at what they do, but they are not übermensch.

In a fantasy world filled with magic and miraculous beings, will the religious concepts of the locals be completely different from the human of Earth?

In a world where fantasy supernatural beings exist as gods and they empower people to create miracles of different power level, I wouldn’t call it religion anymore, since that include faith and belief in beings or powers that can’t be proven to exist - and one doesn’t usually believe in...
