Usually, in various groups over the years there has been one full caster wizard/mage per group. Plus a cleric, then the usual roles get mixed around a bit.

I think this view is key to a LOT of discussions about D&D rules, gameplay, and expectations. (and arguments! 🤷‍♂️ ) Fortuitously my views are balanced in the middle, and over time our group(s) determine what feels right for us.

It was my thought that their being a higher level would equal their impact on fights, AND mean the players would have less of them, solving the spamming of low level control spells problem. But still have them available, but a harder choice to make.

Identify all the problematic control spells and change them to one level higher than they are now? Like you said about math, if a spell can "negate" the combat of a certain CR level creature, then make it a higher level spell than it was. (a bad? example? ... Cone of Cold is basically a save...

He isn't completely wrong in some aspects. His ideas for legendary saves are pretty good, and removes the boring "Monster uses legendary save..."

Ritual Caster looks like it could be used as an enabler for casting spells from scrolls. I know it doesn't technically "give you a spell list" but it does let you learn spells from the "list" you chose when obtaining the feat. @Horwath what do you think? (I would keep the spell failure chance...

Okay, Thats what I remember. Apparently I'm losing my mind and all credibility. In my defense, however...this section can be misleading. I assume the intent is to say language is not a barrier to casting a scroll spell thats on your list...but it reads as anyone who has language can do it...
