Spoilers TV Shows with Great Endings

Indeed, it was a show about moral philosophy.

    Spoilers Pluribus

Personally, I think prelude to Alien invasion would be a boringly conventional way to go. A virus with no inherent sentience, but that has evolved naturally to propagate itself around the galaxy using intelligent species as a host body, depending on their inherent curiosity to download itself...

    D&D 5E (2024) WotC Should Make 5.5E Specific Setting

It doesn't have any halflings, goliaths, orcs, gnomes or aasimar either. And the only elf is an non-PHB sea elf. It does have some lizardfolk and a couple of hobgoblins. The tiefling and a couple of dwarves where later additions. But given that its a 1980s adventure set in a pseudo-17th century...

That’s a complication, I would much prefer to keep her than get a recast Sulu.

    D&D 5E (2024) WotC Should Make 5.5E Specific Setting

Don’t have them. 5e Background is a gameplay mechanic for PCs. NPCs have whatever skills and abilities their role requires. We can assume they have some personal history, which is irrelevant.

High magic is the default. No need to mention it.

    D&D 5E (2024) WotC Should Make 5.5E Specific Setting

NPCs are walk on characters in someone else’s story. They are the inn keeper, or the blacksmith, or a farmer. They are lucky to get a name, and their “background” is that their parent did the same job. They only have the skills required to do their job, and they certainly don’t have any feats.

    D&D 5E (2024) WotC Should Make 5.5E Specific Setting

I’ve never given a background to a 5e commoner or classless NPC either.

    D&D 5E (2024) WotC Should Make 5.5E Specific Setting

    No backgrounds in 1st edition.

    D&D 5E (2024) WotC Should Make 5.5E Specific Setting

Older settings never worked that way. PC races, classes etc where added to the game in Dragon Magazine, Unearthed Arcana etc, and they became part of the setting.

No, because most of that cast are dead.

D&D General Mike Mearls says control spells are ruining 5th Edition

The wheels don’t come off, but my little city car is not very stable at 80+ mph. But that would involve breaking the law, so it shouldn’t be doing that anyway.

D&D General Art of the Forgotten Realms: The Dalelands

But not very useful in actual play! A useful map needs to be clear. And the muddy-ness makes it not very appealing as eye candy either.

    D&D 5E (2024) WotC Should Make 5.5E Specific Setting

Exandria is characteristic of the culture and attitudes at the time of writing, not the rules. I wouldn’t have any difficulty running a 1st edition game in Exandria.

    D&D 5E (2024) WotC Should Make 5.5E Specific Setting

I think you make an important point here. The trend these days is to create settings that are system-neutral and rules are setting-neutral. So a “5e” setting would be completely system-neutral, making no reference to any rules.

And your opinion is? I believe forum rules expect you to start a conversation on any web links, not just share them, if you are starting a new topic. Could have been posted in the existing thread if you have nothing in particular to say. Anyway, I like the LotR dialled up to 11 look of the art...

Shawn Levy Provides Update on Netflix D&D Show

Aside from the elements that haven't aged well, Pern isn't actually as romance focused as the modern genre. People called McCaffery "The Barbara Cartland of Sci Fi" as an insult. Sometimes she did romance, but it's rarely the main focus, and I can't think of any time she sets up the...
