D&D 5E (2024) Psionics: What Do You Want?

I just wanted the psion to not be a different kind of wizard. If they'd made psionics feel different in method of use it might have been enough to draw me back to 5e, but as soon as I saw prepared spells and spell slots it killed any interest I may have had.

D&D 5E (2024) How's the adoption of the new Goliath types going?

For that I think they'll need a new setting as shoehorning additional races into established settings can often lead to lacklustre results but if a new setting is created that integrates them along with the other phb handbook races, I think that will lead to better lore for goliaths.

D&D General Eastern Dragons in 5e

I don't even really bother with the standard dragons now either, I instead focus on the elements so a red or gold dragon is just a dragon of flame. Really cuts back on the number of dragon types running around (I think I only have 6 types I use and two, representing life and death, are only maybes).

D&D 5E (2014) Convince me that the Ranger is a necessary Class.

I always thought Jack the giant slayer was at least part of the inspiration for the 1e ranger given that they had that damage bonus that let them deal to giants. I have this image of rangers being archers but I don't think bows were actually a major part of the base ranger until 3.5 when the...

D&D 5E (2024) How's the adoption of the new Goliath types going?

They just need "Vulnerable to sling stones" added to the race abilities.

    The Enterprise through the ages

Excelsior, NX, sovereign are some of my favourites. Spent a lot of time watching Those New Guys in their galaxy class and love chonky that ship is. Not sure I really have a favourite enterprise though. If talking about just star trek starships, I do like the warp delta class. Makes me think of...

D&D 5E (2024) How's the adoption of the new Goliath types going?

That can be pretty important. I often include races based on the following: The initial race selection by players. Created setting lore. Once the setting lore is "done", I often won't include other races unless I have a large open unexplored area but even then, they'll often be made up of...

D&D 5E (2024) How's the adoption of the new Goliath types going?

I know nothing about the new goliath stats, but it sounds similar to how I would run them anyway. In my setting they were created by the Titans for the armies, each titan is related to an element so sounds like most of these goliaths would easily fit in.

D&D General Eastern Dragons in 5e

I'd follow previous editions, I think 3e had some good versions of eastern dragons.

AI is going to hack us.

This sounds like the plot to the latest mission impossible.

D&D 5E (2014) Convince me that the Ranger is a necessary Class.

No idea what I said when I first responded to this thread, but I'm really thinking that both paladin and ranger aren't necessary as their own classes. For 5e, if subclasses were more robust and classes gained subclass levels at the same time, then I'd have made both subclasses. A ranger could...

The price of streaming vs out right owning

I don't currently have any subs, used to only be disney, netflix, and dnd beyond but I've since stopped all of them. I owned a copy of MS office but as soon as I upgraded to windows 11 it was incompatible for some reason, it didn't just stop working it popped up on screen that it was no longer...

Daggerheart Review: The Duality of Robust Combat Mechanics and Freeform Narrative

Not too keen on the cards (not a fan of gimmicky extras like cards or unique dice) but the hope and fear mechanic sounds interesting. I might have a read of the srd at some point to see how exactly they work together.

D&D General How Long Did You Play Only D&D Before Trying Another Game

My friends and I played advanced fighting fantasy before I found out about DnD via the rules cyclopedia. I've mostly stuck with some form of DnD since then. I wanted to give savage worlds a try but scheduling can be a pain at times. Have played a little of pirate borg which I think of as DnD...

    Daggerheart has been Officially Released

If it's out then it makes sense that crit roll are starting a campaign showcasing the system. It should drive up interest. I don't really know anything about it, but I have a friend who was interested, I'll have to see if he's gonna get it.

D&D 5E (2014) Wonder why there aren't any Elemental Domains (Earth, Air, Fire, Water)?

Priests in Conan seem less like clerics and more like a combination of wizard, warlock, and artificer. Some seem to gain power/knowledge from demonic entities like Set others don't seem to have any patron teaching them sorcery while others have knowledge of mechanical knowhow that grants them...

D&D 5E (2014) Wonder why there aren't any Elemental Domains (Earth, Air, Fire, Water)?

I guess another thing I tend to lean towards now is that a priest isn't a priest of a specific deity. You're an intermediary of the Olympians or the Egyptian gods. While there were priests assigned to temples of specific gods, that seemed more of a temporal position rather than spiritual, you...

D&D 5E (2014) Wonder why there aren't any Elemental Domains (Earth, Air, Fire, Water)?

I also much prefer my gods being able to take away power, a gradual reduction in power to show disfavour and allow the priest to return to the "right" path. However, I also think it can work well to have divine magic be learnt and to have evil priests belong to the main priesthood. Self-serving...
