D&D General Forgotten Realms: Real World Gods Still Present in the Old Empires

Yeah, I like to have a history and then maybe some basic changes, but otherwise I let the players action change things rather than setting updates.

    D&D 5E (2024) Bringing Back A Prestige Class?

I hadn't thought about radiant damage, seems a good one to remove for shadow weave casters. Just now looking at the shadow adept. Thing worth including: Darkvision (I'd make it similar to the invocation that lets you see perfectly in darkness) Shadow Defence, probably just advantage rather...

D&D General Forgotten Realms: Real World Gods Still Present in the Old Empires

I've long reached the point where I don't worry too much about the current lore, I don't even use the spell plague other than a couple of its effects (I like the 4e airspur) I stop at 3e lore. Trying to incorporate all of the lore changes is just too much of a headache.

EN World What you thought a thread title said.

Bugger me! I can't be the only one who's read the Burger me! thread title like this.

    D&D 5E (2024) Bringing Back A Prestige Class?

I'm not sure I'd worry about the skill since it's a little harder to get skills on the fly without having to spend another feat to pick them up, though admittedly, most that are probably interested in the class will have arcana (I'm thinking wizards and sorcerers) at most I'd say a feat and...

    D&D 5E (2024) Bringing Back A Prestige Class?

From memory, wasn't it a feat in 3e? Maybe make it a feat in 5e but also include a wizard subclass for the shadow adept, gaining the effects of the feat for free but also gaining the abilities of the prestige class as they level. I guess with 5e multiclassing a prestige class would still work...

Best D&D Novels- Of All TIme

I still love the dragonlance books (autumn twilight, winter night, spring dawning), I remember also enjoying the twin series. Dragons of a summer flame was my reading material during a flight. I have a large collection of dragonlance books, I enjoyed most (all?) of them. I also remember...

D&D General Forgotten Realms: Real World Gods Still Present in the Old Empires

Pretty sure his tomb entrance was buried which hid it from grave robbers. Having a valley of the kings was probably a pretty big signpost as well.

D&D General Forgotten Realms: Real World Gods Still Present in the Old Empires

I think I've just assumed it was something like that because both names start with Gilg.

D&D General Forgotten Realms: Real World Gods Still Present in the Old Empires

Ah, gotcha. I'm fine with that to be honest, naturally I don't know why they went with Horus-Re but maybe they wanted to make a point that it was still Horus who had absorbed Ra's power. Not surprising that they would keep the older name in the new books since that's the name used in previous...

D&D General Forgotten Realms: Real World Gods Still Present in the Old Empires

I wouldn't say this is really non-accurate given that Ra is alternatively spelled Re, though admittedly I much prefer the spelling Ra.

D&D 5E (2024) Circle Casting is gonna break a lot of games

It's interesting how circle magic has changed. 1e: ?? 2e: increased your caster level but only to determine your number of prepared spells (not sure if spells had to be sacrificed) 3e: spell slots expended by the other circle members can increase your caster level or let you apply certain...

D&D General Using Bing to create my version of Modrons

That's the dude from the Watchmen, right? I think that you should keep the weirdness factor, though they do get more humanoid as they move up the hierarchy so maybe that's perfect for Primus.

D&D General Using Bing to create my version of Modrons

These are pretty cool, I imagine the ones with no appendages just float about adventurers saying "Hey, Listen!"

    Matt Colville's Community

The number of videos on youtube that have a somewhat interesting topic which I've just ignored is too damn high! So many times I think it would be easier to skim an article to see if it's interesting rather than having to watch a 15-20 minute video about it. I especially hate the "5 things that...

There are some people on the site that really grate on me, my forum viewing has improved immensely with them blocked, far nicer experience. Fair if you don't want to use it, but I think the block button is invaluable.

What is your favourite character type, (prof, class etc) And why?

I love playing wizards and learning the secrets of the existence as I add more spells to my repertoire.
