    D&D 5E (2024) What's Your 2026 WotC D&D Wishlist?

Like @GarrettKP points out about Dragon Delves, there are some bits and bobs...but it won't exactly be rocket surgery to go ahead and run a 2024 Advebthre with 2014 rules. Heck, I think even the FR books could still mostly be used by a 2014 without seriously backbreaking work. Still way easier...

D&D General Does anyone else starting to feel like FR: HoF & FR: AiF were starved of resources because of the Core Books

I do agree with that, I think a couple places further afield would have been good: the Sword Coazt material on the Campaigns is pretty great, just pointing to those is solid.

Which new RPG Book(s) would like to see in 2026?

Yeah honestly for a lot of players it might feel pretty close to "exactly like D&D" since the play loop and math are so close...which was a clever design move. Most games try to put more distance between the selves and standard D&D, which can be a barrier.

New Unearthed Arcana Brings Back Five Subclasses

To be fair, the person who seems to be leading UA right now, Mackenzie de Armas, is Asian, and even used to be a regular panelist for the podcast Asians Represent when they were dissecting old D&D Orientalism. So I think those concerns are pretty well understood at WotC right now.

Forgotten Realms: Adventures in Faerun - First Impressions

True, but the books do include a lot of information to help with that, as well, with Gazateers and Faction info. At any rate, thsf is not terribly crunchy in D&D, unlike combat which can involve e a lot of number crunching.

Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerun - First Impressions

Now thisnis only partially data from Bookscan (so thst doesn't include any FLGS, international, or Beyond sales) in 2023, so Spelljammer had been on the market for a year as opposed to about 7 years for SCAG. Spelljammer is about middle of the pack. Dragonlance and Call of fhe Netherdeep seem...

Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerun - First Impressions

I mean, 6 years later isn't all that quick. Both Spelljammer and Planescape sets seemed to sell from the numbers we have seen, but the format seem not to have been well liked.

Heroforge introduces microtransaction model with Daggerheart collaboration

I mean, if the only way the could make the collaborations work financially would tear their community apart, it wouldn't make sense to proceed.

Forgotten Realms: Adventures in Faerun - First Impressions

Particularly, the worksheets in the DMG are the tools thst can really grow the seeds here. IMO.

Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerun - First Impressions

In fact, the lacking elements in those sets make them great candidates for juat such a booster book.

Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerun - First Impressions

The Spelljammef and Planescape sets were small, but they had a lot of good stuff. A similar expansion could fit nicely with those sets.

    Maybe, depends on their contracts.

Heroforge introduces microtransaction model with Daggerheart collaboration

Right, and Darrington would want HeroForge to pay them for usage.

Forgotten Realms: Adventures in Faerun - First Impressions

Peaceful interactions are easy enough to come up with, solid combat Encounters that can get picked up and go are useful.

The actual art from the game, which Darrington owns and the artists in question were paid for. Not necessarily defending it as the best decision, but it seems likely that Darrington was asking fir pay for their content and HeroForge was working out a system to compensate them for their property.

What are you reading in 2025?

I have literally never felt like I wanted any book to be shorter...? Whereas I am frequently left wanting more. Sometimes from the longer books!

Heroforge introduces microtransaction model with Daggerheart collaboration

Possibly, I imagine that Darrington wants a cut for any use of their IP and HeroForge worked out a system to accommodate that.

I think the most charitable interpretiob is also most likely, that they straight up didn't forsee any pushback and were mainly focused on making sure all IP holders and creators were beong paid for their time and labor, because at least Darrington Press is at pains to ensure they pay their...

    Does Anyone Care? (Cosmere RPG)

And it's vague enough to leave room for creative play. It will be interesting to see where they go next, apparently they are looking at Warbreaker or Elantris, or even a Worldhooper book are on the line. It is going to get interesting.
