D&D General Ben Riggs interviews Fred Hicks and Cam Banks, then shares WotC sales data.

not sure how groggy you have to be to go to a convention. I am not saying 1/3 having switched and 1/6 (if the numbers hold) mixing in 2024 are bad numbers for 2024, in fact I consider them pretty good. The point was that most of the people in the audience did not mix and match, contrary to what...

I only heard the podcast, but 1/3 moved entirely to 2024 and some portion stuck with 2014, which I assume is what the half here refers to (the podcast did not quantify it). Only a part was mixing, and going by those numbers a small minority (the smallest out of the three groups)

when why did half stick with 2014 and 1/3 move entirely to 2024?

Ken Burnside on how screwed Asmodee is

but they have a different word for that, mill-ion, mill-iarde, bill-ion, bill-iarde, and so on, they would not call it 2100 millions, they would call it 2.1 milliarde

you should be able to trust that the numbers are correct or at least what Hasbro believes they are spin does not mean that they have to hide failing sales numbers and D&D is close to being shut down due to lack of sales, it simply means they portray it in the best light possible WotC is a...

D&D General WotC is at it again

unless you post it on their site and they like it enough to publish it ;) but yeah, boilerplate stuff, as bad as it is that this has become boilerplate…

Ken Burnside on how screwed Asmodee is

um, no, it is 2.1 Billion, the Saudi Fund does not deal in single digit millions, and even if they did, that would be reported as 2.1 (or 2,1) million, not 2,100… Google also verifies that it were 2 Billion...

there is always a 'need' for spin as far as corporations are concerned

2024 D&D Core Rulebooks Off to "Strongest-Ever" Start for D&D Books

probably not much, Hasbro has been notoriously bad at a clear communication, they obfuscate as much as they can get away with

D&D General What Are Dragonlance's Weis & Hickman, and Actor Manganiello Cooking Up?

would you prefer a mixed group of elves to enslave another mixed group of elves? even if the white elves are the bad guys for enslaving the brown elves? Do I now need mixed ethnicity Nazis because them all being white is too much?

D&D General What Are Dragonlance's Weis & Hickman, and Actor Manganiello Cooking Up?

so if Spock and Kirk were different actors of different colors and genders in each episode, that would be perfectly fine because they are fictional and have no identity? As I wrote earlier, we disagree on fictional characters not having an identity, to me it is established with their first...

D&D General What Are Dragonlance's Weis & Hickman, and Actor Manganiello Cooking Up?

If you were writing a new novel or movie script with new characters, you would be correct. You aren’t however, the books were written decades ago and the characters were established decades ago in them (and the art)

D&D General What Are Dragonlance's Weis & Hickman, and Actor Manganiello Cooking Up?

yeah, inconsistent lore, once called woodland brown, 15 or so times called fair skinned or pale, and always depicted as pale. Call that inconsistent if you want, but there still is very much a trend here, this is not an even distribution where we would have to guess what the intent was is it...

D&D General What Are Dragonlance's Weis & Hickman, and Actor Manganiello Cooking Up?

obviously not, which leaves the other part of what you wrote, namely ‘They could cast only Japanese actors and it would as much represent the characters "identity"’

D&D General What Are Dragonlance's Weis & Hickman, and Actor Manganiello Cooking Up?

I am stating my preference, as far as I can tell so is everyone else. I am not expecting anyone to get all riled up over this either way

D&D General What Are Dragonlance's Weis & Hickman, and Actor Manganiello Cooking Up?

it follows the established characters, and I already said it is not that important, it is my preference however. That has nothing to do with them being white, if they were black my preference would be that they stay that. There is an established lore, I’d merely stick with it over trying to make...

D&D General What Are Dragonlance's Weis & Hickman, and Actor Manganiello Cooking Up?

yeah, in one spot she is described as woodland brown, in all other places she is described as white (fair skin or even pale, depending on the reference). I'd go with the vast majority of cases over the one exception "There is likewise a dispute over Laurana's skin tone. Dragons of Autumn...
