Which are you, The plan everything out GM, or the Ad lib?

It's also ad libbing without the benefit of input. This is why I think no/low prep GMing is better: what happens directly relates to the players and the table and the adventure and the moments. "Planning" fails to understand just how fundamentally ephemeral and reactive play is.

What Bit Of Fan Fic/Edit/Theory Made a Thing Better or even GREAT For You?

Wow. That's great. Aside: I am forever sad that the original Mummy movie did not give us a long series of Brendan Frasier as (then) modern Indiana Jones.

They said every adventure they run.

    Daggerheart General Thread [+]

On the upside, reskinning is easy. You can readily steal attacks or whatever from one adversary and add to another. last night I invented a couple faerie assassins out of other tier 2 adversaries and an environment, totally off the cuff.

Which are you, The plan everything out GM, or the Ad lib?

Look, I am not calling you a liar, but as a freelance writer and a novelist, I look at that number and I literally don't believe you. No one writes that much for EVERY adventure they run. 75K is a BIG book for most RPGs. I don't buy it. Sorry.

Which are you, The plan everything out GM, or the Ad lib?

Zero or very limited prep. I want the ephemeral, chaotic experience of collaborative "storytelling." I prefer to start with a situation and then let the players run wild.

What rpg system would you use for a 60+ session fantasy campaign?

To be fair, a long campaign for me is a fleeting experience. I ran a 20 year, 3 edition D&D campaign, which is awesome. But I mostly love shorter experiences as a GM (from brief convention campaigns to year long things). As a player I am ambivalent.

    Drakkenheim Daggerheart Campaign Guide Announced.

I don't own that adventure so I don't know how well it will give with DH's "play to find out" and "hold on loosely" ethos.

    Drakkenheim Daggerheart Campaign Guide Announced.

Yeah, it will be interesting to see whether these sorts of projects try and do actual campaigns in DH, or if they focus on the campaign frame and a bunch of monsters, powers, etc...

What rpg system would you use for a 60+ session fantasy campaign?

60 sessions would likely take my "weekly" group about 2 years. I don't think I would find something like Fate Accelerated satisfying for that long.

    Million Dollar TTRPG Kickstarter Club

I ended up buying OT2 after playing the demo for a couple hours. I preferred its vibe to that of DQ11.

    Spoilers Peacemaker Season 2 (Spoilers)

Gunn knows how to make characters complex, even relatively unimportant ones. He is a really good writer.

D&D General What version of D&D are you playing?

The problem with 2024 isn't that it is too late, it is that it is too little. For me personally, certainly, but also regarding the marketing. So you tell people that it is perfectly compatible with 5E 2014. Okay. Why should they buy it then? If they really believed that, it should have been...

What video/computer game could (or has) replaced TTRPGs for your group. +

First and foremost: why the + ? Simply put, I don't want this thread to be about "no video game can replace TTRPGs." That's may be true. I might even agree. But arguing about it will just obscure the real question. And that real question is: if a computer or video game were to replace your...

D&D General What version of D&D are you playing?

That's a whole different thing. If less work is what you want, just play BG3 co-op. If you play for the same amount of time as D&D at the table (say 4 hours weekly) you will have at least a whole year's worth of gaming if you decide to 100% the thing.

What rpg system would you use for a 60+ session fantasy campaign?

All things being equal and assuming no worries about getting players, I would probably say AD&D 2E. It's slow progression and emphasis away from dungeon crawling would support the 60 session idea. Note that I would import the Domain and War Machine rules from BECMI. My honorable mention, not...

    Spoilers Peacemaker Season 2 (Spoilers)

I think Johnson's problem is more ego than talent. The whole "I can't lose a fight on screen" attitude undermines the most basic principal of drama. The fight against the capoeria guys in The rundown was a blast and by all accounts he would not let it happen now.
