This thread reminded me, I did run the Pathfinder AP Kingmaker and thought the domain system was a lot of fun. Nothing I would port over, but it did go to show a quick abstract system that fits your particular campaign tone and style can go a long way.

Looks awesome! I can only imagine the amount of work that went into that. 😮 Can you talk about your domain rules a little more. What it's similar to, clever mechanics you like, etc.? Even better, if you're familiar with ACKS, how it differs for those shopping around.

Agree. Not to sound like a broken record, but I don't think there's anything else that even comes close. Curious what others offer up though. I did see An Echo Resounding by Sine Nomine Publishing. Haven't read it myself, but is an add-on for OSR systems that might appeal to those looking for...

@Micah Sweet Didn't realize enough changed to warrant a conversion guide... @Alzrius Google "ACKS System Compatibility Guide PDF", that's the document you want to look through. Looks mostly to be tables with name changes to get away from the OGL.

I think this is also good practice. I hate to admit it, but when I see a common OSR logo I immediately loose a bit of interest. At a time of oversaturation, the last thing you want is to seem generic. This goes with adding too many systems on it too. If you have Shadowdark, PF2E, OSE, and 5E on...

Now that you mention it, I can't recall the last time I saw a generic OSR logo on anything I've bought... Most just say it with plain text or have a cool unique logo. Personally, I'd take the corner banner route myself:

Recommend running an Adventure Path before creating your own (they're all pretty cool and well designed, IMO) and make the beginning of the campaign (first book) just having fun and learning about the system. PF2e is quite complicated and will take time "get right". In the mean time, error on...

I prefer a mix myself. Race/Species/etc are intrinsically different than humans physically which modifies stats accordingly, but Class/Background also plays a part in what those scores are as well. One of the reasons I'm so enamored with the PF2 system at the moment.

I think level-drain is cool as is, but would come up with a fun way to mitigate its effects, such as killing the creature "releases your xp back", lost levels are easier to gain back (4x bonus), or quest to obtain a Greater Restoration. Hate the idea of nerfing it officially or preemptively...

@SteveC Exactly why I wont back until I get to see the rules. Hopefully they'll release a quick-look with a one-shot adventure when they go live.

I wonder if that's why they brought on Shawn Tomkin (Ironsworn)? I'd imagine solo-RPGs need a lot of tables...

I'm especially curious to see the mechanics for handling this!
