Survey Says TTRPGs Bring Mental Health, Romance, and Friendship

While it's not at all unexpected, it's still really great that we keep having more and more research into the positive benefits of role-playing games.

    D&D 5E (2024) Rank 5e skills from most useful (1) to least useful (18)

That's fair. However... ...I feel like this is very much overstating the problem. Anecdotal evidence is all that any of us really have but I'd like to believe that this degree of adversarial DMing is becoming much more rare as the hobby has opened up and kind of exploded in the past decade. My...

    D&D 5E (2024) Rank 5e skills from most useful (1) to least useful (18)

Yes. To be a little less glib, I think it's a problem that cuts both ways; players can take these skills and take actions that call for these checks, but also DMs could stop ignoring certain skills, to say nothing of DMs that are punishing players for using the skills the game lets them take...

    Iron DM 2025 Scheduling Thread!

I've been in three championship matches, and the only one I lost was the only that was explicitly a D&D adventure. A lot the adventures I've written that I look back on the most fondly were all system-agnostic (and one set in the Supernatural RPG, of all things)

I can at least say a decade-plus for me, at this point. Doesn't quite make me feel as old as working with college students does, but it's up there

I mean, Rune has been doing this for what I believe can accurately be described as decades and I've already burned through enough ideas that I'm apparently double dipping into that well, at a certain point there's fewer places to take our suggestions than weird.

Honestly, I'd forgotten I'd already used it before. I try to remove used ingredients from my list from year to year, but I honestly must have just skipped over it when going through older tournaments. No, if we had ever done anything intentional with that ingredient in particular it would have...

    D&D 5E (2024) Rank 5e skills from most useful (1) to least useful (18)

Every thing you're talking about here is exactly what I'm saying. It's (a) anecdotal and (b) entirely self-fulfilling. Optimizers go out into the wild and tell stories about how GMs never call for these skills (never mind that skill usage is entirely on the players, if you want your GM to call...

    D&D 5E (2024) Rank 5e skills from most useful (1) to least useful (18)

Yeah, a lot of this, especially the quote-unquote "low tier" skills are mostly a self-fulfilling prophecy. CharOpers decide which skills aren't exploitable which means fewer players take those skills which means fewer DMs generate circumstances for those skills to shine which means fewer players...
