Cancelling MTG accounts as the next move

Not just MTG. We need to pressure every WotC licensee right now. Dropping licenses cuts off brand growth which is one of the thing they are targeting for revenue growth. The D&D brand needs to become (temporarily) radioactive to get WotC to surrender.

Why I'm not boycotting the movie, video games, comic books or novels over the OGL scandal, just D&DB & hardcovers.

We haven't won anything yet -- and will not have won until WotC waves a white flag and confirms to deauthorization of the OGL. And have you seen the new D&DB plans? We need to hit their wallet harder -- which means going after every company that licenses content from WotC. We need not just...

D&D 5E (2024) New leak looks real bad

Geez, and I thought playing GW games was the equivalent of being in an abusive relationship. Man, I'm loving Free League, Kobold, and Paizo right now.

D&D 5E (2024) RPG Evolution: The Art of the Apology

There's a step zero -- you have to actually be sorry and intend to mean it. In WotC's case, I don't think they are sorry except in the sense of "we're sorry we're not going to make the money we planned and that you didn't fall for our exploitive plan."

So WHY Didn't The OGL Contain The Word 'Irrevocable'?

So TL;DR -- Thought they had it covered, never thought WotC would be this evil?

    D&D 5E (2014) Will you continue to give WotC D&D your $$$

Not a penny to WotC or their "brand" until OGL1.0(a) is publicly acknowledged as irrevocable (or the equivalent). I've got enough D&D products on my shelf for several lifetimes of game play.

Hasbro/WotC has crossed the Trust Thermocline

WotC is pulling a TSR. Which after NuTSR this year is surprising and saying something.

Parachute Fund for WotC employees looking to leave

Good idea. Also ... how much money would we have to raise for Paizo to buy D&D from Hasbro?

D&D 5E (2014) So this is how D&D 5e dies, a beautiful start only to die in disgrace because of mismanagement. RIP 5e

... to thunderous applause No. Fight back. It does not have to end this way. The gaming community has the power -- we own D&D by dint of being WotC/Hasbro's source of funds. If we keep up the pressure and deny them profits they will change behavior.

Gizmodo Reveals OGL v1.1's 'Term Sheet' Carrots For Selected Publishers

No retreat. Never give up; never surrender! Keep up the pressure!

D&D Beyond Cancellations Changed WotCs Plans

Don't relax folks. Keep up the pressure and cancellations. WotC may have changed their timing, but you don't know their plans are changed until you see an actual OGL. This bit of press can lull the gaming public into saying "it's over, we won, back to business" which is exactly what WotC are...

Penny Arcade has harsh words for WotC

Burn. PA are very effective in very few words. Shame they haven't been supported well by WotC to date, as I think PA did a fantastic job of growing the community through the AI streams. I think of them for streaming, not CR (I've never watched CR). But that lack of support allows PA to be...

WotC Walks Back Some OGL Changes, But Not All

We've been living with that risk for two decades, and outside of maybe one product it really hasn't materialized (not that improvements in products can't be made). F x S = K. The product of freedom and security is constant. If you want freedom, you give upp some control and certainty. I'm fine...

WotC Walks Back Some OGL Changes, But Not All

The old 3.0 Book of Erotic Fantasy. Fun times back then. IMO there's a market for that and it deserves a means to exist even if people don't like it ... the market can vote on its success.

WotC Walks Back Some OGL Changes, But Not All

That's the challenge -- WotC creating an environment where the positive aspects of signing on to an OGL2.0 encourage consumers and creators to do so. I think it's possible ... but not the way they are going about it. Consumers and creators deserve a choice, which is not what WotC wants. So...

WotC Walks Back Some OGL Changes, But Not All

For me the red line is deauthorization of OGL1.0(a). As long as that is part of a future OGL, WotC is dead to me. Make 1.0(a) irrevocable and the rest becomes negotiable, IMO.

D&D General Are You Seriously Planning to Stop Playing and/or Running D&D Over The Recent OGL Developments?

Stop playing? Not with the generations of stuff I already have. Stop buying and supporting the brand. Yes.

Paizo Announces New Irrevocable Open RPG License To Replace the OGL

Good! But we need to keep pressure on WotC to agree OGL1.0(a) is irrevocable. Then we can move it to a third party with all the current support for existing products intact!

    D&D 5E (2024) Lifetime boycott of D&D-branded products?

I have enough D&D to last several lifetimes. So if OGL1.1 goes forward, I'm out -- no more purchases or brans support. I'll buy other RPG products, and play the old D&D stuff I have. I'd been meaning to break out the old BX stuff, anyway ...

D&D General Are you jumping ship? What will you be switching to?

The One Ring... plus I have plenty of BX!
