    Christmas swag!

My son got me the D&D 3.5 book, Complete Arcane. Comes in handy, too, as he's planning on running a 3.5 wu jen in my next campaign, which should likely start this summer. Johnathan

ZERO DAY | Official Teaser | Netflix

To me, Zero Day is the third book in a trilogy by Ezekiel Boone (the other two being The Hatching and Skitter) about a spider apocalypse. I was a little bummed to find the show has nothing to do with that series. Oh well. Johnathan

D&D 3.x Critique Sought For Subterranean Creatures

That's just for the HD. Here's the 3.5 SRD link; I've found it very useful in the past. (It's the magical beast entry; delete everything after the "srd" if you want the main page.) https://www.d20srd.org/srd/typesSubtypes.htm#magicalBeastType Johnathan

D&D 3.x Critique Sought For Subterranean Creatures

Magical beasts have good Fort and Ref saves, so a 3-HD magical beast and 17 Dex would have Ref +6, wouldn't it? Johnathan

D&D 3.x Critique Sought For Subterranean Creatures

First thoughts: chaotic good? Really? And does it really advance by character class? I think these might have been carry-overs from a copy-and-paste. I think the Will save should be +1 for a 3-HD magical beast with a 10 Wisdom. Johnathan

    Show Us Your Geeky Art

I bought a copy of the cover art of the following two books - just the pictures, none of the trade dress - from the artist, Brent Chumley, at a Gen Con many years ago. They're hanging in my man-cave, where we run our gaming sessions. Johnathan

What are you reading in 2024?

I just spent the last hour or so reading the first three issues of three homemade comic book titles I wrote and drew back in March - August 1979, that I unearthed in a folder in a drawer in my gaming library. That would have been the end of my first year in high school and the summer before I...

D&D 3.x Critique Sought For Subterranean Creatures

Wouldn't grapple be -11? (+1 BAB, -8 size, -4 Strength) With a -4 Strength penalty, I think those damage ranges for its sling attacks would be 1d2-4 (which means 1, effectively). I think it should have Ref +6 and Will +5. However, reading through the whole thread, it looks like it started...

What are you reading in 2024?

Finished Book Two and am now starting Book Three in the trilogy by Dennis Schmidt: Twilight of the Gods III: Three Trumps Sounding. It started out as Norse fantasy, got a little druidic magic sprinkled in there, and then added some Egyptian and Chinese mythological figures in there as well in...

[Mothership] Help me flesh out a simple adventure idea

I'll just point that given limited food aboard the ship (given the passengers weren't supposed to be awakened until the ship arrived), cannibalization is always an option - perhaps not for the PCs, but it may have occurred to those who were inadvertently awakened along with the PCs, and who...

D&D General How Was Your Last Session?

In tonight's "Ghourmand Vale" session, the PCs: Approached a warehouse where we believed the stolen cargo from three of my PC's brother's merchant ships was being stored; we decided I'd go in pretending to look to purchase some stolen merchandise, and if we spotted the stolen cargo...
