D&D General Why Enworld should liberate D&D from Hasbro

If I had to wager a guess as to the causation between the two, well, with everything...

From the OP? It really doesn't seem like it. But a few folks brought up that specific piece of artwork while agreeing with the OP's take or otherwise diminishing WotC's claims over D&D, and for those folks, yes, that does seem to be at least partially what it's actually about.

D&D General Dnd and what has changed

Seeing the words "3e" and "retroclone" in direct proximity with each other is aging me ten years at a time

And, by the by, if this is what people are hoping for ENWorld, of all institutions, to liberate D&D from, I've got some pretty bad news for you.

Just saw a video that was pointing out the beholder in this image, absolutely A+ design, look at that lil' guy. He's so happy for them.

Do you "roleplay" in non-TTRPG Games?

Also, any game of Munchkin Classic that doesn't devolve into a Elven Mafia extorting literally everybody else at the table is a game of Munchkin Classic where people aren't playing to win.

D&D General Settings of Hope vs Settings of Despair

Community building is such an under-utilized concept in TTRPGs when it have such a strong thematic component to any given campaign

D&D General Why Enworld should liberate D&D from Hasbro

I mean, BG3 does have a hag that does eat a child, but she's honestly played much more for laughs than for horror. You throw a potion at her to make her vomit up the kid. Like BG3 is such a goofy game with its tongue so firmly within its cheek that I'm not sure where this whole "BG3's...

How Do You Like Your Steak?

Chicken Fried Steak is to be topped with pepper and sausage gravy and that is it (adding hot sauce is also acceptable and encouraged) As it should be. I mean, it's hard to argue with success.

BG3 may have plenty of mature content but it is neither particularly dark nor edgy, like the people who love BG3 are the people who love the queer cheerful artwork.

D&D General Settings of Hope vs Settings of Despair

Settings of Despair that my players must turn into Settings of Hope has been my bread and butter for years and I don't see that changing any time soon.

I am in that tiny 40+ age bracket and I am also firmly within the target market for what D&D has been outputting for years. Tasha's in particular was one of my favorite books, and I love the changes to 2024.
