SPOILERS - Curse of Strahd Play Report

Also that the Blindsight is limited to 60ft for all Perception purposes. Oh, unless you have a Find Familiar whose eye's you can looking through, muahahahaha. *straps his Owl to his face*

SPOILERS - Curse of Strahd Play Report

As one of those fully aggressive suicide-by-monster (Necromancer after all), the key is to introduce the downsides AFTER the players have already been inflicted. Example: The ability to pass through solid objects has already been used to bypass key doors/chokepoints. But people forget, there...

SPOILERS - Curse of Strahd Play Report

I TPKd my party several times, and they loved it each time. Waking up at the bottom of the well, as sacrifices on the alter, etc. The AL method of instantly being raised at full heath + spells + cool new dark rite has been extremely popular. Plus not getting Remove Curse is another party goal.

    Are Wizard schools irrelevant?

Well I'm currently running a Necromancer through CoS and it's been thematically great so far. He's lost his eyes and is more golem in appearance (cold resist/fire vuln), trying to mimic the undead he will awake. Basically he's based on a certain scientist character from Archer the TV show and...

    D&D 5E (2014) Two Weapon Fighting

The biggest reason you don't see more TWF is the PAM feat. You get the bonus attack, that you can use GWM with, and your ability modifier with just 1 feat. Plus you get the added benefit of GWF style. I'd say just let dual wielders have their ability modifier on both attacks and call it day.

    D&D 5E (2014) Can the Bard out-Ranger a Ranger?

Ranger 3 + Horder Breaker + Sharpshooter + Xbox Expert = almost always 4 attacks/turn whenever you get multiattack. That is pushing out an insane amount of damage at-will, especially when combined with Hunter's Mark. With that said, I agree with the above posters. Generally speaking, taking...

    D&D 5E (2014) Can the Bard out-Ranger a Ranger?

Horde Breaker alone is worth taking at least 3 into Ranger if you want to use a bow. It's why a Ranger dip is mandatory for the powerbuild archer classes.

D&D 5E (2014) Trying to build a pole arm fighter

    1. Sentinel is not even remotely underrated. It is one of the most powerful feats in the game, especially on a Polearm Master Battlemaster because you can stick enemies prone as their approach for free advantage throughout your next turn against that target. 2. Again, GWM is not even...

Best use of Polearm Master + Sentinel, Best Control/Skill Bard, Level 6

    1. It's easier just to admit that you're wrong. 2. You made a statement that the general build I posted was suboptimal but neglected to clarify why it was. As the OP was asking for the optimal build, clarification should have been provided to have any substance. 3. MD and HO are solid...

Best use of Polearm Master + Sentinel, Best Control/Skill Bard, Level 6

Yes, and in those threads (that I've seen) PSG is overwhelming agreed to be one of the top tier most powerful builds. No other build gets as many attacks between main Action, Bonus, and Reaction. No other build has as high sustainable DPS without expending resources, and the resources that are...

    Pact Cantrips in Ravenloft

True, I forgot to mention that I'm going through as a Necromancer and just eat the disadvantage because most undead at low levels are ridiculously easy to hit. But yes, at higher levels it will lose its luster sadly.

D&D 5E (2014) [GUIDE] Blade, Book, and Chain: the Warlock Guide

Given how powerful Find Familiar is, I would hazard a guess that it's not often.

    Pact Cantrips in Ravenloft

You don't take Chill Touch for the damage, you take it to grant undead Disadvantage without a saving throw.

    D&D 5E (2014) The Blade Lock- A Mini Guide.

It actually is decently unusual to the point where using it to calculate into DPR for GWM is sort of silly. But yes, other people can help you hit with GWM. That's why I just assumed both strikes hit. GFB is still sufficiently close in DPR. If you're really that worried, just pick up a level...

D&D 5E (2014) Weird Low Level Wizard Play?

Y'all need some learning on how to be low level Wizards. Here's a few tips: 1. Find Familiar. Use it, abuse it. Congrats, you have basically free trap roomba, scout, and can generate advantage almost at-will, even from a distance. 2. Phantasmal Force. This spell should be spell level 3+...

    D&D 5E (2014) The Blade Lock- A Mini Guide.

That's not entirely accurate. For starts, if the GWM is getting a 3rd attack then the GFB is doubling its dice. Assuming best case scenario for both, a crit grants GWM a bonus attack at (2d6+20) damage, so another 27 damage on the 3rd swing. GFB on a crit doubles all dice, so at level 11 an...

Best use of Polearm Master + Sentinel, Best Control/Skill Bard, Level 6

Polearm + Sent + GWM you mean? 1. Variant Human (obviously) Battlemaster Fighter. 2. Champion is also a possibility but BM is almost always more useful with the PSG combo. Battlemaster gets Precision, which is the most useful thing because it helps GWM strikes connect (+10 damage rather...

New DM Quest Rewards available on DM's Guild

The concentration mechanic takes care of that. I'm not saying bring the hammer down on every party, but using the resources available is significantly better DMing than getting upset and DM fiating one player into oblivion. The system is there to shutdown mix/maxers (I'm horribly guilty of...
