I agree with @Kobold Stew in that, of those two classes, the Warlock would make a better generalist. They have a higher hit die and have light armor and shield proficiency. But I also agree that the best generalist would be the Bard since they are the quintessential Jack-of-all-trades.

Technically, Death Knights do exist (just ask Lord Soth), but I know what you mean. I created a “Death Knight” Fighter subclass, but I had to call it Doom Knight because Death Knights exist in the MM.

For the most part. But when I’m teaching new players, I feel like the names might not be as obvious of a description of their mechanics, and I fear that the new players would be put off by having to flip through all the pages of feats to figure out what each one does.

Did anybody happen to notice, in any of the previews, if the Feats chapter had a handy table with brief feat descriptions like there was in 3.x and 4e? That way my overwhelmed players can scan the list and then look up the feats they want more clarification on. That was a pretty basic thing...

Do we know yet what the Weapon Masteries are for Halflings, Gnomes, Goblins, and Kobolds?
