    D&D General DALL·E 3 does amazing D&D art

Interesting. I would have expected to see some pigs in that picture, based on other people’s results.

    D&D 5E (2014) Snow-Sweeping/Clearing Cantrip

Wait, you're in Boston?!?!? Could you come shovel my driveway next Sunday if we get snow?

    D&D 5E (2014) Snow-Sweeping/Clearing Cantrip

I could see Gust working on light, fluffy snow, but as a New Englander, I can assure you it won’t work on heavy, wet snow.

    D&D 5E (2014) Snow-Sweeping/Clearing Cantrip

You could use Mage Hand, but it would probably take a long time. I was looking for a way to use Druidcraft, but the only conceivable way would be the first bullet point to predict the weather in conjunction with Teleport to go somewhere warmer.

D&D 5E (2024) The Cleric should be retired

Sacred Flame is one of those spells that I just simply stopped using in Solasta and BG3 because it feels like enemies always make the save. A trusty old warhammer or mace seems to connect more frequently, and I can still toss out a Healing Word when I need to.

    D&D General Dragon Talk?

I also just realized that the last “new” article on DDB was Monday, the same day as the layoffs were announced. I’m hoping that is just coincidence, since I’ve only seen two names on the layoff list so far that worked there (Amy Dallen and David Hartless).

    D&D General Dragon Talk?

I used to love listening to Dragon Talk every week, but back in July they mentioned they were going on vacation and would be back in September. Now we’re in December and there still hasn’t been a new episode released. I didn’t see Greg Tito or Shelly Mazzanoble on the list of laid off...

D&D 5E (2024) The Cleric should be retired

    The obvious answer is Florida

D&D 5E (2024) Rogue's Been in an Awkward Place, And This Survey Might Be Our Last Chance to Let WotC Know.

A simple way to add DPR to the rogue class would be to give them Extra Attack at level 5. Barbarians, Fighters, Monks, Paladins, and Rangers (ya know, the other martial classes) all get it, so why not Rogues? The actual damage from the attack won’t add a ton of damage, but having a second...

D&D 5E (2024) Rogue's Been in an Awkward Place, And This Survey Might Be Our Last Chance to Let WotC Know.

How do these numbers look when comparing just the base class, instead of including the subclasses? (In case a particular subclass is imbalanced and distorting the numbers)

D&D 5E (2024) How to answer the WOTC playtest survey....

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: they mislabeled the names of the response choices. Rather than Very Dissatisfied/Dissatisfied/Satisfied/Very Satisfied, they should have gone with something like Dissatisfied/Needs a Rewrite/Needs Minor Tweaks/Satisfied. That way, responders will know...

    D&D 5E (2024) Worldbuilding Differences between 5e and 5.5?

I always thought elves were the same height as humans. But then I read The Death Gate Cycle and the elves in that world were actually taller than humans.

    D&D 5E (2024) WotC renaming Charisma in 2024 books

Mica Burton has used that term of Knights of Eveningstar.

D&D 5E (2024) Does Primal Knowledge affect Passive Perception?

I would agree with @Vael. According to UA7, Primal Knowledge says, “whenever you make an ability check using one of the following skills…” Making an ability check is “active,” not “passive.”

D&D General Tips for Using Paper Character Sheets

I have mini dry erase whiteboards for the players to keep track of their HP and THP, as well as any temporary conditions. Also, since I play with 2 12yo and an 11yo, I fill out the paper character sheets since I can write smaller.

D&D General Why Is D&D Successful?

I think it's just a societal change in general. Without getting into any (potentially off-topic) specifics, a lot of things that, when I was growing up in the 80's, were considered either "taboo" or "uncool" are now gaining public acceptance. In terms of D&D specifically, when I was younger it...

D&D 5E (2024) Should shields, like Simple weapons be available to all characters?

I can only assume @CreamCloud0 meant the 3e Buckler which was a small shield that strapped to one’s arm

D&D 5E (2024) The Cleric should be retired

D&D was created in 1974, so Clerics aren’t even 50 years old yet. In 15 years, when they’re 65, then they can retire. Honestly, if they had saved up more money rather than giving alms to the poor, they probably could have retired earlier. But they clearly didn’t have a good financial advisor...
