What gets me playing Draw Steel and not Pathfinder 2e?

I could start discussing it but I'll just let James(?) speak for himself:

What gets me playing Draw Steel and not Pathfinder 2e?

In Draw Steel, banes and edges cap at double bane/edge, and cancel each other out after capping. So one of each cancel out, as does a double of each. If you have a double of one type and one of the other, you roll with one of the type you have a double of.

What gets me playing Draw Steel and not Pathfinder 2e?

Not familiar with SotDL despite having the PDFs since forever, but a single Bane in Draw Steel is a -2 to a roll. That's a pretty hefty penalty, as you are normally rolling 2d10+ a stat (that at best can start at 2), with maybe a +2 for skill if it's not an ability roll, and seeing which of the...

Which "Tactical" TTRPG Would Work Best As An X-Com Like?

As I've mentioned in other threads, I'm not a huge fan of GURPS but this is actually a place where I think it would fit – at least "run-time" GURPS. It's heavily tactical, with lots of fiddly bits and stuff that could provide meaningful differences between a regular rifle and a laser rifle. It...

Pathfinder 2E Skill feats shouldn't give you abilities that normal people have

Some of your examples have been fixed or at least reduced in the Remaster. To take your first example, Make an Impression now explicitly allows for targeting up to 5 people at a -2 penalty, with being able to target more being up to the GM. The feat was buffed to start at 10 targets at Trained...

I love that Tacticians exist. Glod knows that 5e lacks a good warlord-type class. But it doesn't scratch the weapon master itch. To some degree you can cover the fighter niche with the Fury, but the Fury has pretty much nothing that works at range, so you can't do Robin Hood or Hawkguy with...

The thing is that the Tactician is very much a support class. Pretty much all their abilities are about helping their buddies out – sometimes via direct action (e.g. hit someone and let a buddy hit them too, or swap places with an ally, make a weak attack against someone, and let the ally heal a...

Spoilers What do casual fans get wrong about Star Wars?

This book was written from the perspective of one of the "intermediaries" IIRC, or at least someone who aspired to be one until he learned what a-holes the colonizers were. The Foundation books, as I recall, are all from the perspective of Foundation people. I think there may have been an...

Spoilers What do casual fans get wrong about Star Wars?

Sure, but that's the easiest no-prize ever. "That 'no attachments' bit sure came back to bite us in the posterior. Maybe ease up on that a bit when we reboot?"

Spoilers What do casual fans get wrong about Star Wars?

Taking this seriously for a second: once, long ago, I read a science fiction novel set on a world which had an extremely stratified society, likely as a commentary on colonialism. I only vaguely recall the novel (I thought it was an Asimov novel but it doesn't seem that way as I look at his...

    (Netflix) K-POP DEMON HUNTERS

Not sure whether you mean Denniz Pop (who died in the early 00s) or his "apprentice" Max Martin (who's still very much active), but I'll have you know that we Swedes have an excellent grasp of English.

I see where Matt is coming from, but I think there's room for a "weapon master" type character that eventually develops some type of supernatural abilities from pure skill and/or enlightenment. I mean, look at Xena (who may or may not have divine lineage) or Hawkguy, for example. I actually had...

    Draw Steel General Thread [+]

It seems like 4e turned up to 11, but being sort-of built from scratch and thus not beholden to D&Disms. It still has quite a few of them (like fiend-based gnolls, goblinoids coming in goblin-, hobgoblin- and bugbear-size, and things like that), but where 4e did break with some traditions it...
