RPG Archive: Lovecraft Country for CoC and D&D

Glad to hear Innsmouth is on the way. I'd love to see a year of Lovecraft Country. Maybe a new settlement every other month or once a quarter with maybe a lightly connected series of adventures in each one. And maybe with a great solo adventure, a walking tour perhaps from Arkham to Kingsport...

RPG Archive: Lovecraft Country for CoC and D&D

I don't know the sanity system from UA. The sanity optional rules from the 2014 Dungeon Master's Guide are really simple and could work if you have a list of what causes a save. You'd get rid of the need for every monster to have sanity point loss and you could slowly unveil the list to the PCs...

I hope so. But it took years for just Arkham to appear. And the d20 stats are handy to have.

You'll have hits points, ascending AC, and damage for monsters and items. I have no problem adapting it to Amazing Adventures (which is d20 based as well).

Cthulhu Monster Fog - Free photo on Pixabay Our Towns A few years ago Chaosium put out a series of RPG supplements set in the haunted fictional towns of Lovecraft Country. The first three books included updated versions of H. P. Lovecraft's Arkham (PDF), H. P. Lovecraft's Dunwich (PDF), and H...

RPG Print News – Free League, Haunted Table, and More

Glad to hear that. Rolling a handful of d4s might take getting used to, but I really the idea of the game and the adventure support.

Right, but I think from the quickstart that pairs or not pairs of three matter also. For my group it started to seem like a lot to do for every roll. Some of my players still have a hard time telling how many sides any dice between a d6 and a d20 have. Other's mileage may vary of course.

Have you played it? The dice mechanics hurt my head with all the countings of 3s and pairs. Just wondered how hard it would be to wrangle six players through all that.

RPG Print News – Free League, Haunted Table, and More

Adventures are out for Symbaroum and Dungeons & Dragons some set in the worlds of Humblewood (sapient animals) and Astromythos (sapient celestial bodies). There is also a large supplement for The Mutant Epoch which includes support for PC ‘veggie-sapiens'. Finally, there are two RPGs (each with...

New Year, New Campaign: Crown and Skull

Not sure what RPGs you run, but streamlined rules like Crown and Skull that don't also require quite a bit of GM fiat are rare in my experience. It isn't rules lite, but it is heavily streamlined. The demo character was joking. He also said he brings a canoe paddle.

RPG Print News – Runehammer, Cubicle 7, and More

The C and S players guide PDF is 78 pages and free. But it is a table top RPG and is made to be best enjoyed in print of course. The free PDF is great because it helps guide buying decisions. It does not include all the great GM tools of course which is where the book really shines.

New Year, New Campaign: Crown and Skull

I have Volume II and am writing another post about it. Volume I is grounded, lived in fantasy with dungeons and hexcrawls. Volume II is about dragons but also about taking GMing to another level. It lifts the hood on the rules and provides insights and options. In addition to all that (and more...

New Year, New Campaign: Crown and Skull

This functions like named levels used to work in AD&D. Playing that long will likely reveal which side you lean towards. But you don't have to make a formal declaration until you are recognized by other movers and shakers in the world. You become important enough to matter in the larger schemes...

RPG Print News – Runehammer, Cubicle 7, and More

I have an article about Crown and Skull posting today. It examines the strengths of the system for both new players and experienced players. I am writing a follow up article on Crown and Skull Volume II which really and truly blew my mind. Volume I is awesome everyman fantasy. Volume II is...

New Year, New Campaign: Crown and Skull

A large group of players with mixed levels of RPG experience can be challenging to run. Or maybe you want less mechanics but not rules light. Crown and Skull by Runehammer Games provides solutions some GMs may be seeking and is a perfect RPG to kick off a new campaign especially one with new...
