D&D General Advent's Amazing Advice: Into Ivy Mansion, A One-Shot fully prepped and ready to go!

Is this your first M.T. Black adventure? I recommend "House of the Midnight Violet" for another project. It's one of my personal favorite adventures. (Also "The Clockwork Queen," which was co-written by Black.)

D&D General What to Do with a Dragon Corpse?

When my players killed the white dragon in Dragon of Icespire Peak, I used this supplement to determine what they could get and what to do with it: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/276213/hamund-s-harvesting-handbook-a-complete-guide-to-harvesting-and-crafting-in-d-d-5e

    D&D 5E (2014) What's a non-culty official adventure?

The group has already played Lost Mine of Phandelver (I forgot to mention that in my original post). I think they'd like a longer campaign ideally, though.

D&D 5E (2024) Effects that kill you at 0 hp

I think it's fine if you get player buy-in. Just like playing earlier editions, some people would love the thrill of deadliness and others would respond by becoming paranoid in an un-fun way about potential character loss. Neither approach is wrong. Just find out which one applies to your group...

    D&D 5E (2014) What's a non-culty official adventure?

For one of my tables, I've run Tyranny of Dragons, Curse of Strahd, and (currently) Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus. Both ToD and DiA are quite cult-heavy--in fact, the opening chapters of DiA have no less than three different cults operating against each other. It would be nice if the next...

D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

In order to have enough data to accept it as a prevailing trend, I'd need to hear from more than just one person plus friend group's sample. After all, how do I know you're just not unusually touchy about anything that smacks of authority, and tend to attract friends with similar views? Maybe...

D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

My sample size isn't exactly tiny. At the end of the day, it's all anecdotal evidence. Which is considered unreliable for very good reasons.

D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

I'm in the US and have not run across a huge number of tyrannical DMs. I think it's just random selection.

D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

For whatever anecdotal information is worth, that hasn't been my experience. Even in PbtA games, they'd have to be an option on your character sheet. You can't just declare that you have them out of the blue.

D&D General Did 5e 2024 Not meet the economic goals set, and if not, why not?

That doesn't make it not a matter of perception.

D&D General Did 5e 2024 Not meet the economic goals set, and if not, why not?

That one is definitely a matter of perception.

D&D General What if we gave dragonborn four arms?

Where do you get this idea? I'm not aware of any agreed standard number of legs for a western dragon.

D&D 5E (2014) Narzugon on Nightmare versus Magic Circle

Doesn't the narzugon still have disadvantage though, even if it's inside?

D&D 5E (2014) Narzugon on Nightmare versus Magic Circle

In my Descent Into Avernus game, the group are about to have a showdown with one of the minibosses (Haruman), who uses the stats of a narzugon riding a nightmare. In preparation for his arrival, they cast magic circle around themselves, set to exclude fiends. This means that the boss basically...

D&D General Boots of Striding and Springing

Presumably the boots might also counteract some spells and effects that would otherwise slow your speed below 30?

D&D 5E (2014) Can you retry a failed skill check? How long?

Yes, in other words, the current conditions. When I say the roll is the best the character can do under the current conditions, that takes in all three factors, because all three numbers are added together. Sometimes I allow this, if it makes sense for the situation. It at least adds some...

D&D 5E (2014) Can you retry a failed skill check? How long?

I do something similar but with a variation: I say "The skill check represents your best attempt under the current circumstances. If you want to try again, you'll have to change something to give you different odds." Depending on what they come up with, I might give them a bonus to the second...

Jess Lanzillo Departs Wizards of the Coast

In isolation, it's not. But the fact that so many top people are leaving in such a short space of time seems like it might be significant. Of what, I don't know.
