Daggerheart Class Packs kickstarter is live.

this is simple curiosity, how well is a given game doing, in this case Daggerheart. It has nothing to do with what games I want to play, otherwise Shadow of the Weird Wizard and Tales of the Valiant would not rank so high (and Talisman Adventures would not even make the list) ;) Apart from...

AD&D 1E Snarf's Challenge: Was it Possible to Play 1e RAW? SHARE YOUR STORIES!

maybe he should have, chances are we would have gotten more streamlined rules… I never even attempted to play RAW, while reading the books for the first time, I frequently made a mental note to not use some part at all because there was so much overhead involved

same, I usually stick to the core or at most one additional rulebook (like Xanathar’s). Beyond that I consider it bloat with diminishing returns. Given how few WotC released in the 10 years, they seem to share that reluctance

So I take it this is what the new map covers (the red rectangle is the old Schley map)

    Million Dollar TTRPG Kickstarter Club

I am not sure what premise you refer to, the one where the target price is a fraction of the actual internal target / required minimum? Yeah, I can see one man shops that are new to this be completely wrong about what their target should be and actually having a target of $1000 or whatever...

Hasbro Opens New Wizards of the Coast Video Game Studio in Montreal to Support D&D Franchise

I can see someone wanting 5 out of the 12 and buying only 3 or 4, but only 1 if they previously bought 3 out of 4 regularly? I can see someone who bought everything religiously lower their number of total purchases, much like I can see someone who only occasionally bought a book buying slightly...

Other D&D Variant What is your favorite version of D&D offshoot/D20 fantasy today? Tell us why it is the best!

Shadow of the Weird Wizard yes, it’s easily compatible with 5e, Shadow is not, but will still be pretty familiar

Will the complexity pendulum swing back?

beggars can’t be choosers, the TTRPG space is very different today from the 1e days As to 1e today (your is), unless you count the OSR as 1e, I do not believe it is popular at all

given that the premise was that the target is a made up number that is way too low, it does not really make much of a difference whether you hit ‘ridiculously too low’ or ‘far too low’ to break even

Other D&D Variant What is your favorite version of D&D offshoot/D20 fantasy today? Tell us why it is the best!

Shadow of the Weird Wizard / Demon Lord when it comes to the wider 5e landscape, Tales of the Valiant when it comes to the ‘clones’

they were bad at capitalism for a lot more reasons than releasing a lot of products though. To the point that I am not so sure whether that even had anything to do with their downfall. Selling below manufacturing cost, and that on some pretty well selling products, cannot have helped. Nepotism...

I agree with that, it is not purely a popularity gauge, this being an optional product already makes it less important. If they had kickstarted their first ‘of Everything’ book instead, that would give us a better approximation

I don’t know, they can spend 1M on a new TTRPG or 100M on a new game, and I am not sure the game is guaranteed a higher chance of success than the TTRPG… If your game takes off then releasing a TTRPG for it might be a smart idea for WotC, but the hurdle still is to make a successful game first

even as a one man operation there are economics of scale. If you only manage to sell 20 books via KS, you will print those at a loss, and there is no point printing another 180 or so to bring the price down which you then have to store and sell later. I believe your best bet to get people’s...

that probably assumes that you buy all of them, I assume most people are not collectors that compulsively buy everything. For the non-collectors who only buy what piqued their interest, the average year probably gets between 0 and 2 purchases. Having a wider array of offerings might change that
