D&D 5E (2024) What is your oppinion of 5.24 so far?

Since the announcement, I've waffled between almost no interest and pretty interested. Right now, it feels like a good jumping off point, but I suspect our group will transition to 2024 D&D as smoothly as D&D Beyond allows.

    Spoilers Doctor Who 2024 (spoilers)

And brother does the show do a lot of that! I guess you could fast-forward through that stuff? I'm watching the show from the very, very beginning, and I find myself fast-forwarding through some stuff - which really helps when the stories are 6 or 8 episodes long!

Level Up Gateway Announcing Level Up Gateway

This is great news! The one thing that has kept me from introducing more LU content to my table is the lack of a character builder tool. Also, kudos to the designer(s); the layout, color choices, organization, etc. is very strong - everything looks easy to scan, it's not too crowded, nothing...

    D&D 5E (2024) Ranger 2024 is a bigger joke than Ranger 2014:

In WOTC's material? The usually-Charisma-based skills, and arguable background traits, and some downtime stuff. In other 5E material there's lots. Level Up comes to mind, but I know I've seen products that focus on fleshing out the social pillar.

What Actors In Specific Roles Are A Joy To Watch for You?

I would watch/listen to Ian McKellan as Gandalf the Grey reading from the Hobbiton phonebook.

What Actors In Specific Roles Are A Joy To Watch for You?

Slightly tangential: Steven Spielberg directing Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones is 100% solid gold for me, even in the worst IJ films. Spielberg's strengths really shine with an actor of Ford's skill and physical approach to acting.

    D&D 5E (2024) Ranger 2024 is a bigger joke than Ranger 2014:

I've looked at a lot of alternate 5E ranger classes, and this new one looks...better than WOTC's 2014 ranger. Unfortunately, this is damning with faint praise. I think WOTC's ranger is weak sauce, partly because the system doesn't offer much if any support for exploration and survival. Level Up...

Is there any genre or theme that the TTRPG medium does not work for?

My optimism and faith in people's creativity tells me that no, there isn't.

    Spoilers Doctor Who 2024 (spoilers)

The more I think about Millie Gibson's perfromances this season, the more impressed I am. Gatwa's performance is sort of blatantly great, but hers is more low-key great? And I like the way she's written.

(The angle you're seeing in these stairs is not a visual trick caused by lens distortion! They are designed that way. You will trip on them.)

    The Fellowship of the Ring

This is definitely a top contender. I just skimmed some "best films of the 21st century thus far" lists, and I realized 2 things: 1. I watch a decent amount of art-house and foreign films, but I need to watch more. We have a high-end art-house theater here, so I have no excuse. 2. Most of those...

D&D 5E (2024) What happened to proficiency bonus times per day?

As much as I like multiclassing and want it to be easier and more rewarding to do, I can't disagree with this.

    The Fellowship of the Ring

Of the three LOTR movies, it does the best job of adapting its LOTR book. Especially considering its trying to squeeze it into a 3-hour movie and be a blockbuster at the same time. And yes, it's fricking phenomenal. That any of those movies works at all is a minor miracle, considering the...

    Tarantino Movies, Ranked!

Jackie Brown That's all. Love this movie. Not a fan otherwise. Oviously his stuff is well-wriiten and well-directed, and his casts are impeccable, but overall his approach feels incredibly indulgent to me. I don't love his work, and don't hate it - I've just learned his stuff's not for me.
