    Spoilers Doctor Who 2024 (spoilers)

I've been hearing that a lot, that younger viewers loved that episode and this season in general.

Geek Confessional Thread 2024 [NOW 2025!]

I won't play games where my character has thralls or has to feed on humans - or any other animal, for that matter. It just weirds me out. Or at least I won't play them and take them seriously. I ran what was basically Count Floyd in a VtM game once, and it was not appreciated for the high art...

    Spoilers Doctor Who 2024 (spoilers)

Yes, it gets better, but the season has been criticized for lacking narrative logic, even more than when RTD was the showrunner the first time. So, some things will make similar not-sense* as "Space Babies". But the character stuff and dramatic moments continue to be spot-on. * This was not...

Geek Confessional Thread 2024 [NOW 2025!]

If a fantasy ttrpg I'm playing has guns as an option, my character will not use them. I have no problem if one character has guns, but if it becomes more common than that I'm going to lose interest. It just doesn't feel like traditional, pseudo-medieval fantasy to me if there's guns.

D&D 5E (2024) New DM Screen Revealed By NZ Retailer

There's no way for me to decide if I want any given GM's screen until I see what the entire contents are, and they're usually packaged so that you can't see that. So, there's no way I'll buy one until I can see someone else's. :(

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook Reveal: "New Wizard"

I don't think I've ever played a wizard, in all my decades of playing fantasy games. But one player in our group plays almost exclusively wizards (occasionally sorcerors or warlocks), and does it extremely well - meaning they're very clever about spell-use and know the system and the spells...

D&D 5E (2024) Check Out The New Map Of D&D's Planes!

I haven't watched the video, so is that image of a printed map and that's a fold about 2/3rds of the way down?

[It's been weeks so I can barely remember, but it probably went something like] Chat, recap, questions, re-recap, encounter.

    D&D 5E (2024) Ways to turn 5e into a Story Now game (+)

I've toyed with the idea of giving traits, etc some mechanical weight. Stealing a bit form Cortex: Assign 1d6, 1d6, and 1d8 to the following: Personality, Ideal, Bond Assign 1d4 to your Flaw This assumes you have only one of each trait. Regardless, you would add that die to a d20 roll when...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 D&D character sheet, what do you think?

I haven't seen enough 2024 stuff to know - do we know if traits, bonds, ideals, and flaws are even a thing anymore?

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 D&D character sheet, what do you think?

I'm not crazy about this. Here's why: 1. As pointed out, this layout really glues skills to abilities. Players who aren't already used to changing things up in this regard are going to be much less likely to even think that's an option. Players who are used to changing things up might think of...

Any Supers Game that feels Super?

Masks: A New Generation is phenomenal. It's one of the 2 or 3 best supers games I've seen, and I've seen a lot. I say this with the caveat that it a specific sub-genre os supers, teen heroes. I'm super-duper looking forward to Kids in Capes.

Woo! More fighting styles! I like the sound of the Inspiration changes. The DMG is sounding really good.

    Spoilers Doctor Who 2024 (spoilers)

Regarding the anagrams and wordplay, with The Doctor having let supernatural stuff back in the universe (or let it run more rampant) maybe words are powerful and the supernatural beings are bound to them. There's a load of precedent for that in mythology, fairy stories, etc.

    Spoilers Doctor Who 2024 (spoilers)

"The Legend of Ruby Sunday" had too much of this: Character: "What is that? What's happening?" Othe Character: "I don't know." OR [wordless shocked or confused expression] Just over and over. That my harsh criticism. I really enjoyed most of it in the moment, but by the end the sparsity of...

    Art Direction: Consistent or Varied?

Hmm - I think art direction can be consistent and varied at the same time, but that might be semantics at work. I expect the art in a product to be of consistent quality or professionalism, and to share one or more traits. Those traits could be stylistic, thematic, contemporaneousness (if the...
