Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks Is Talking About AI in D&D Again

I use it for help with basic coding for work stuff, but I also use if for creativity. I find it can be a lot of fun bouncing ideas off chatgpt and seeing what comes out of it.

D&D General If we were re-designing the Tiny Hut-esc 'instant shelter' spells what would we change?

I think 3e was 1 hour of study all up, same as BECMI, but when it comes right down to it, everyone in games I've run or played in for every edition typically just allow spells to be prepped after resting and don't worry too much about actual time.

D&D General If we were re-designing the Tiny Hut-esc 'instant shelter' spells what would we change?

I'd remove the force field ability of tiny hut. Instead it just hedges out weather and small insects/animals.

What are you reading in 2025?

I think they have the benefit of being light easy reading. I was reading one called rogue dungeon and quite enjoyed it, it's set in an advanced MMO so if you've played WoW or another MMO some of the tropes will resonate.

D&D General No One Reads Conan Now -- So What Are They Reading?

I have a friend who has recommended it to me before. Back in 2021 he had this to say in our chat. Might be a little bit spoilery as he talks about the beginning of the first book.

D&D General No One Reads Conan Now -- So What Are They Reading?

T Thanks, I've added these three to my reading list. I'm trying to get back into reading because I spend too much time on my phone (granted that's how I'll likely be reading these books), in front of my tv, or on my PC.

D&D General No One Reads Conan Now -- So What Are They Reading?

Thanks, I'll give these a look at, I think the only one I've read is earthsea which I remember being a great read.

D&D General No One Reads Conan Now -- So What Are They Reading?

Well, having caight up on the thread, it seems like it is no longer about the topic. I was hoping to get some book recommendations out of it...

D&D General No One Reads Conan Now -- So What Are They Reading?

They are, I have a bunch, maybe all, of them. Worth a read for sure and easily done in an afternoon/evening or two.

D&D General No One Reads Conan Now -- So What Are They Reading?

Definitely, I will often read digital copies as well. Often the digital copies are around the same cost as the physical book from a secondhand store and they have the benefit of being downloaded directly. Kind of a shame though, I have an easier time browsing book stores than digital stores.

D&D General No One Reads Conan Now -- So What Are They Reading?

I do enjoy going back and reading Conan stories, they're short enough that they tend to be an afternoon read and some of them really seem to have influenced early DnD adventure creation, Queen of the Black Coast reads like a dnd adventure where you explore a lost ruin. Yeah, though in reality...

D&D General Simple, Gritty,Modern. Unpopular Opinions

It's one of the reasons why in 3e a running joke was "friends don't let friends specialise in evocation". The hit point bloat was so high that it made damaging spells less useful than pre-3e.

D&D General Simple, Gritty,Modern. Unpopular Opinions

I think one of the best ways to limit prestige classes is to go back to the old 3e meaning of the term and tie them into an actual organisation rather than just something you're capable of picking up whenever you have the requirements met. Can't be an assassin without joining an assassin's...

D&D General Simple, Gritty,Modern. Unpopular Opinions

I haven't looked at player classes, but for DMs, monsters and NPCs can be simplified a bit. I made some notes around doing that ages ago and have been trying to find them. Essentially though, monsters can be made a little like other editions instead of going through the entire build and adding...

D&D 5E (2024) Will the Forgotten Realms Player's Guide Feats/Spells Have Forgotten Realms Campaign Only Prequisites?

It's probably more for adventure league (I'm assuming that's still happening) and probably an ask your dm for home games.

D&D 5E (2014) What could 5E do to make wealth worthwhile?

Maybe wealth and things to spend money on needs to be determined at the start of the campaign. If players aren't interested in anything but small adventures or single on-going adventure path with little downtime then it might be a little harder. If the party is asked for long-term goals then...

D&D General The blood war can finally end!

I recall from planescape torment there was green steel that allowed you to overcome damage resistance (maybe it was treated as a +1 weapon but without the bonus), it was mined in the lower planes so the various foot soldiers were likely equipped with it, though maybe more for the mercenaries...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D Marilith Is Far More Bestial In 2025

I don't hate it, but I still prefer the older versions.

D&D 5E (2014) What could 5E do to make wealth worthwhile?

I remember old dragon magazines mentioning this (though it was for NPCs) advancing by gaining xp but it was very slow, you need that practical application that comes through firled work (ie, adventuring) to really get the best experience. I don't think it's a bad idea, and could be used when you...

D&D General Which herbs must be in your fantasy game?

I'm a lot more basic with my herbalism in dnd. I have common, uncommon, and rare herbs for most things and then maybe a few uniques (things like black lotus, which probably doesn't count as a herb but is used in a similar way). Been a while, but I think that 10 common hebs were able to make the...
