Fans of long series of big novels, sound off!

Saga of the seven suns by Kevin J Anderson was so good I was churning through a book a day. Few years later and I ran through follow up trilogy and its prequel.

D&D General Weapons should break left and right

In addition to resistance/immunities, vulnerabilities that are impacted by weapon type. If skeletons take double damage from bludgeoning weapons then you might also seem some more weapon swapping.

D&D General Weapons should break left and right

If weapon breakage was in the game, especially breaking on a 1, it would be one of the first things I'd houserule away, it isn't a fun rule for martial users who rely on their weapons.

    Sell me on Savage Worlds

I think if I were to run a savage supers game, I'd have a lot of the groups like AIM or Hydra show up allowing the players to cut down numerous minions with a wild card (like MODOK) turning up at some point to challenge the PCs. Jobbers are also a supers trope, even if they often turn up as a...

ToV Other than "It's not made by WotC", what's the elevator pitch for Tales of the Valiant?

Tales of the valiant standardises the levels each class gets subclasses to 3, 7, 11, and 15 which I think is an improvement. Might not be a selling point, but I think it's an improvement.

Marvel Animation’s Marvel Zombies | Official Trailer

I'm not sure any of the comics would have needed to be read for context, some background in the what if series but even that isn't really needed. And as you say, it's a zombie story, that's context enough

Marvel Animation’s Marvel Zombies | Official Trailer

Watched it tonight, I thought it was pretty good and yeah, that ending.

D&D General Eberron - why don't you run it? [-]

I've mostly read through the 3.5 book and a few of the 3.5 eberron supplements. I do have the old 5.0 eberron book but I haven't read that in a while. Entirely possible that if noir is mentioned in that one that I missed it.

D&D General Eberron - why don't you run it? [-]

I'm not sure I even realised noir was part of Eberron, but I guess I haven't looked too much into it so may have missed it when reading through what books I have.

What is/are your most recent TTRPG purchase(s)?

I bought SWADE when the core book came out, read through it, forgot about it, then read it again and thought "I want to run this" had something set up with cheat sheets to help my players and then life got in the way, we tried rescheduling 3 or 4 times before I gave up. I can't feel too bad...

What is/are your most recent TTRPG purchase(s)?

That is largely my take away from searching for info about the web. I'm probably going to cave and grab the swade version.

What is/are your most recent TTRPG purchase(s)?

I think the last one was the savage worlds horror companion when it was on special. Still trying to decide if I need the scifi book or if the previous edition version is fine.

D&D 5E (2014) Convince me that the Ranger is a necessary Class.

I've been reading some of my older 3e books, primarily oriental adventures and rokugan and because their magic didn't really fit with the setting of Rokugan, they suggested a bonus feat to replace spellcasting each time a new spell level is gained. I think that worked well in 3e because feats...

    Genre Discussion: Cyberpunk

Yeah, I've heard something like that before, I think it was specifically talking about Dystopian futures, but if I looked I'm sure I'd find other examples. I've heard that star wars had the vietnam war as the inspiration. I don't know if that's true, but I can see how it could be that.

    Genre Discussion: Cyberpunk

I also don't think that cyberpunk means tech makes everything worse, I think it's more that tech dominates everything and the ones in charge (typically corporations rather than governments) are the ones making everything worse, they just happen to control the tech.

D&D 5E (2014) Convince me that the Ranger is a necessary Class.

The 2e ranger was improved by kits if you had access to them; they brought back the giant slaying aspect of the 1e version with a kit though it still wasn't as versatile since the 1e version had 'Giant' apply to multiple enemy types that I probably wouldn't have included whereas the 2e kit...

D&D 5E (2014) Convince me that the Ranger is a necessary Class.

A small note, but 3.5 allowed the ranger to choose between 2 weapon fighting and archery.

D&D General Eberron - why don't you run it? [-]

The setting just never really appealed to me. It's got some cool stuff for sure, but the overall setting never grabbed me so I never ran it and still don't really have any real desire to.

    Tell your overdue Kickstarter story

Lagging a bit down here in NZ as well, sounds like they are sending a pallet load of books down to a distributor down under before fulfilling individual orders. Postage costs jumped up a lot since the kickstarter if I understood the last update correctly.
