D&D General Why grognards still matter

Yes, sure. So after one complaint TO THE MANAGEMENT AND NOT THEIR CUSTOMERS, you go find another restaurant you do like. You don't return, not buy anything, but sit down next to their current customers and complain about how much you liked their old menu and think this new menu stinks every day...

D&D General Why grognards still matter

If A is composed of 100 units of people who buy 2 books each for a total of 200 units sold, and B is composed of 10 units of people buy 20 books each for a total of 200 units sold, A is substantially more valuable to the book company than B. Not only does it cost less in setup (writing, art...

D&D General Why did you have to cancel/reschedule your most recent session?

    1) hilarious, our DM's name is Todd. He's awesome though and has never forgotten it was gameday. 2) We have 6 players, and will play with 4 present, so games only get canceled if 3 people are out or the DM is out.

D&D General Why grognards still matter

I've never once seen someone say or imply that you are obligated to buy RPG products you dislike in order to prop up Hasbro. There is little we all agree on here, but I think it's pretty universal that people encourage you to buy and play whatever brings you joy.

D&D General Why grognards still matter

The thing is, I can't think of a single edition where the art direction was really good. I think this art direction is better than most, and it's still not good. But it's at least better than the halflings we got in the last version.

D&D General Why grognards still matter

It's worse really than that. They are not even harassing the wait staff. They don't even contact the restaurant or wait staff beyond maybe a yearly survey or something. Instead they choose to harass the customers every day about liking what the restaurant sells, and loudly declaring that they...

D&D 5E (2024) Wargamer Takes Shot At WotC for Not Respecting Forgotten Realms Canon.

I don't know what happened with the quote function. It's an exact quote but looks like it's attributable to someone else, though embedded in a quote with your name, which is weird. Sorry about that

I don't recall them mentioning microtransactions in that at all. I recall people jumping to that conclusion. My memory is not infallible though.

D&D 5E (2024) Wargamer Takes Shot At WotC for Not Respecting Forgotten Realms Canon.

The relevant quote from you was, "they are making it a bad mount subclass. If you want to make a mount subclass, use the cavalier." I am saying it is a great mount subclass. What misquote? This is incorrect. "Otherwise, you can perform a 1-hour ceremony to resurrect the dragon; this ceremony...

D&D 5E (2024) Wargamer Takes Shot At WotC for Not Respecting Forgotten Realms Canon.

It's a GREAT mount class. If that's your issue with it, I recommend this video. I think it's would be an exceptionally powerful mount subclass.

D&D 5E (2024) Wargamer Takes Shot At WotC for Not Respecting Forgotten Realms Canon.

Claims that the Purple Dragon Knight was an important part of the Forgotten Realms setting ring false to me. Yes, I am saying as a fan of FR that it is in fact pretty meaningless in the grand scheme of things and I think you claiming your view represents "those of us who are really into...

Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks Is Talking About AI in D&D Again

I disagree it's all OCRed. Having seen some scans of TSR stuff, most of it is pretty sketchy looking and not easily read by AI, particularly for training purposes not something they'd scan. In addition, if your concern about AI is unethically taking authors properties without permission and...

Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks Is Talking About AI in D&D Again

Had to look this up, "Walter Benjamin predicted that the technical reproduction of art would lead to a breaking of art’s spell (‘Entzauberung’). Art became less obscure, more accessible and thus less magical because of technical reproduction. … "

Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks Is Talking About AI in D&D Again

Hasbro's previously stated ponderings are that the database used for their AI will include just the stuff WOTC owns for D&D. ChatGPT won't have all that in their database. Indeed, much of it has never been issued in digital text it could access. That's what WOTC can offer that ChatGPT...

Sigil, Wizards of the Coast's VTT, Officially Launches

I think it will have some. It likely will offer digital miniatures, maybe digital dice, maybe digital terrain, I don't know. But I don't think that will be a primary method they focus on for revenue. I think it will be subscriptions they go for, as re-occurring revenue will be better for their...

If a claim has no support, it probably shouldn't be made in a confident tone like it's common knowledge. That's what I was responding to and you jumped into with these gadfly responses.

The claim was made, so I responded to it. If you have evidence they are planning to push lots of microtransactions, let's see it.

D&D General If we were re-designing the Tiny Hut-esc 'instant shelter' spells what would we change?

Yeah the spells states outright it's not invisible, "The dome is opaque from the outside, of any color you choose" which is how creatures so often find us if we just do it out in the open.
