D&D 5E (2024) Which class is the most durable (level 1)?

Barbarians usually have a +2 dex. Too much depends on it. And why would Fighter be taking Defense?

D&D 5E (2024) Which class is the most durable (level 1)?

It's not "good" though and I assumed chain in my next sentence! They have the same AC. They start with the same cash to buy it. They have the same AC, if they want. The Barbarian can afford medium armor, shield, and Dex +2 for the same AC. I spelled it out. +2 Dex is pretty standard for...

D&D 5E (2024) Which class is the most durable (level 1)?

ONLY if they chose Defense as their fighting style, which is unlikley. That's silly. Barbarian could do the same thing. They both get the same feat at level 1. Not at level 1 they don't. Why would the fighter get the benefit of racial choice and not the barbarian? And why is the barbarian...

D&D 5E (2024) Which class is the most durable (level 1)?

You cannot reckless attack at level 1, and we're only talking about level 1, so irrelevant. Literally ONLY applicable after level 1. Versus no damage reduction for the fighter.

D&D 5E (2024) Which class is the most durable (level 1)?

Why would the barbarian get hit twice as often with the same AC, same weapon, and same shield? Where is this misnomer that the Barbarian has a lower AC at level 1 coming from? Unless the fighter is choosing the Defense fighting style, they likely both have 17 or 18 AC.

D&D 5E (2024) Which class is the most durable (level 1)?

You cannot afford good heavy armor at level 1 though and the best you can afford provides the same AC as medium armor with a +2 dex modifier, or no armor with a 16 con and 16 dex. You're not getting Splint Mail at level 1. So Chain and Shield is 18. And Scale + Dex + Shield is 18, and Unarmored...

D&D 5E (2024) Which class is the most durable (level 1)?

He likely has the same AC as the fighter at level 1 though so why would they take more hits before rage happens? They will probably both be AC 17 though both could be AC 18 at level 1 if they push it.

D&D 5E (2024) Which class is the most durable (level 1)?

Barbarian. D12 hit die and max at level 1 means you will have the most hit points. Rage means you will be taking only half damage (or less) from attacks, while dishing out more damage than anyone. Your AC will be the same as the Fighter. You will likely both be AC 17 at level 1. Barbarian...

    D&D 5E (2024) Removing Concentration

I'd be concerned about any DM doing that in the first place because it would be a sure sign they don't have enough experience with the game and are not understanding the severe ramifications of such a rules change. The entire basis of spellcasters is predicated on certain assumptions about...

D&D 5E (2024) Can A Spell Caster Out Damage A Martial Consistently "Archer"?

I think a true striking rogue has a decent shot at this.

D&D 5E (2014) Adventures In the Astral Sea?

Yes I am a player so no spoilers for the Astral Sea suggestions (please), just something I am passing on to our DM to check out. Thank you those are great suggestions!

D&D 5E (2014) Adventures In the Astral Sea?

We are about to end Tomb of Annihilation, which has been a fantastic adventure. Likely we're ending (spoilers ahead): We're going to intentionally put a bag of holding in a portable hole, create a gate to the Astral plane, and intentionally get sucked into the Astral Sea to escape certain...

D&D General Why grognards still matter

I don't see how you can read the original post and conclude that's the perspective you're responding to.

D&D General Why grognards still matter

    1) I didn't read anything in his post that was "insisting" 2) I didn't read anything in his post that ranked a segment as mattering more, just that it mattered.

    D&D 5E (2014) HOUSE-RULE: Options for Two-Weapon Fighting

Why not adopt the weapon mastery rules for a 2014 game? I think they're great. Very nice option that fits well in a 2014 game. I mean, you literally replicated one of them in your options list.

Nick solved this issue. Just adopt it for your 2014 game.

    Spoilers Cobra Kai Final Episodes

I love that in this alternate universe, my home is somehow the center of the world. It's absurd. They drove down most of the streets within a mile of where I live, showing places we have gone to many times, as if they were famous places when really only people who live here or grew up here would...
