Circle Casting Details Revealed for Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerun

I really hope familiars don’t count. It should be something wonderful to encourage casters in the game world to co-operate to create impressive effects not just a way of making individuals more powerful.

How Do You Like Your Steak?

Rare when it’s fillet steak. I like it to go ‘moo’ when I stick my fork in it.

Worlds of Design: Grounding the Game

There is a half way house. Imperium Maledictum uses Zones to describe where players are. So the precise positioning doesn’t really matter but it’s still easy to know where folks are. It’s quite clever and does work well with theatre of the mind.

D&D General Combat Against Player Engagement: A Systemic Challenge

Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 4e with the Group Advantage presented in Up In Arms has an interesting mechanic. A shared pool of points are generated by successful actions by any player. It means every player has a potential success by the other players. Outnumbering and tactics also has an...

Dungeons & Dragons Reveals Two New Spells That Will Appear in Forgotten Realms Books

Ooh very interesting that cooperative casting appears to negate concentration. I like it.

D&D General Beadle & Grimms Forgotten Realms Premium Map Collection

Yes. That’s the next part of my quote that you didn’t post. It has nothing to do with theft though. You have to look at these things on a case by case basis. Not all borrowing from other cultures is negative and whether it is bad will depend on many factors.

I’m ok with that. No Zeus but a big Zeus sized space at the dinner table in Olympus. As a big fan of the show Kaos I can dig it.

Wow, I haven’t got my book to hand but your conviction convinced me. I think it was all the religious locations Thebestus, Elysian, Hades, Olympus etc that befuddled me.

That’s only half the definition of stealing/theft. You missed out the other half which consists of intending to deprive the owner of the property. Taking the Benin Bronzes was theft. Putting jollof rice in your cookbook isn’t. What you’re actually talking about is disrespect. It’s disrespectful...

    D&D General What's your view on a pirate-driven campaign?

It’s worth saying I also think the shares/profits element is highway to nothing. It can all be abstracted. Work out how much net cash you want the PCs to gain after a fixed period of piracy and if they are successful at the down time activity just let them get that sum of money and assume it...

    D&D General Best Adventure I Haven't Run?

The reality is, the factions matter as little or much as you want them to. Our party wizard has a strong affinity for the amethyst academy but the party also completed a quest for the Knights returning an artifact for them, despite their hatred of wizards. It was a distasteful experience for the...

    D&D General Best Adventure I Haven't Run?

Absolutely not. It’s a tightly defined campaign setting with about a dozen very well detailed mini-dungeons or adventure sites. With between 3-10 locations at each. That effectively form mini adventures. Reached by exploration, rumours or missions from the factions. Couldn’t be further from a...

    D&D General What's your view on a pirate-driven campaign?

So many great products in that last. Sea of Fallen Stars was my introduction to pirate RPG. Anyone else remember the island with the crashed Neogi Spelljammer. That is some serious horror vibes going on there.

What Do You Think Of As "Modern TTRPG Mechanics"?

It’s something I noticed in 4e WFRP as well that wasn’t really present in earlier editions either. Definitely feels modern to me, though some indie games no doubt used the mechanic earlier.
