D&D General Why Do You Prefer a Medieval Milieu For D&D? +

I'm usually fine with Medieval plus some anachronisms, even more likely if they are purely magical. I love the idea of a wandslinger, but mundane firearms are a no go. I don't have an issue with Eberron's Lightning Rail, but the Concordant Express' dumb little smoke stack fills me nerd rage. ;)

    D&D 5E (2024) Ranger 2024 is a bigger joke than Ranger 2014:

If you use the list from Unearthed Arcana, it was hard not to run into a "giant"...

Your wizard wants to summon a creature? Here's a bespoke stat-block. Your ranger wants a companion creature? Here's a bespoke stat-block. Your druid wants to turn into a creature? Here's a monster stat-block you can kludge into a pseudo-template.

Why it was called "Dungeons & Dragons 3e"

I think the thought was that it was the successor to the AD&D line, and since the the need to contrast it to the by then moribund D&D (BECMI/Cyclopedia) line no longer existed, they dropped the Advanced adjective.
