D&D General How many healing potions do you give your party?

I have made a 1/day potion that refills to get the players to use them and not just save them for 'just in case'. But this was in a smaller party with no healer.

D&D General How many healing potions do you give your party?

A lot depends on what level the PCs are. At low level the basic potion can be found in some treasure location or towns might have a couple to buy. By 3rd level all the PCs would have one and most may have used another in combat or somewhere but my players tend to save them in case they go down...

John Kovalic Looks Back On Over Two Decades Of Munchkin

I went to their site and through 5 pages of things for sale and did not see this. It's fine, I only wanted to see how much it is selling for. I could just look harder on Google or something, but the link could just bring me there.

D&D 5E (2014) Onmyoji: A class in production: feedback welcome

No, you would be a Betazoid.

Spoilers I saw Happy Gilmore 2; so now you dont have to.

Would there be anything else to watch now-a-days? In 30 more years I will likely be dead for Return of Son of Happy. Which just means that I need to sit through Son of Happy and Shooterson when they come out.

    What's Your Price Limit?

For that price in a game I have not played or sure others in my group would play, I would want to first buy a starter set expecting to pay $30-40 for. If that was well received, I would buy books at $70ish. Maybe only 1/month or something but when compared to what I spend on golf it seems that...

D&D 5E (2014) Onmyoji: A class in production: feedback welcome

I just think Consealer sounds like illusion and deception, like trying to hide something. Just Sealer might work, but Binder feels like you are stopping the opponent from doing something.

    Running multiple games in parallel?

Right now it is the same group of players. My son in college comes and goes to fill out the party. It started at Thanksgiving when he came home and could play that week. Instead of poofing his PC into the ongoing thing, we made new PCs that fit into the ongoing campaign. Partly I wanted to...

D&D 5E (2014) Onmyoji: A class in production: feedback welcome

Yes, maybe just Binder or Spellbinder. All the sub-classes are Hellbinder, Faebinder, soulbinder, etc..

D&D 5E (2014) Onmyoji: A class in production: feedback welcome

When I first read the title I thought it was a joke and something to do with make-up and illusion. Then I thought it should be called Saranwrap after reading about the parchment paper. Maybe Master of the Mystic Arts gets the feel of it. Cantrip could be something that grants an attack to...

    Running multiple games in parallel?

I'm towards the end of one campaign and we started another loose campaign that we play generally around holidays. It started when my son would come home from college and only have a night of play. I set up the low level PCs as henchmen of the higher level Pcs when that group first took over a...

D&D General 70% Of Games End At Lvl 7?

How would running one of the starter sets affect these numbers. If I started a campaign with Lost Mines (LMoP) and it goes to level 5-6 then ends. Do people start a new campaign or continue with the same PCs. I continued, but would guess many do not. Also school campaigns that get together...

OSR What's Your Best Drop-In Content For A Sandbox?

I have a couple random bandit/orc/thug encounters that I can drop about anywhere to use when things slow down. I try to keep them for the level and just add more monsters if the PCs become too powerful, so now they fight 50 bandits instead of just 6.

    Game Mechanics & Lore

I think a lot of people on this site will say 5e let them down since it is not Dark Sun or Birthright. But D&D is supposed to be generic like @payn mentioned above. Each world has its own schtick where the flavor is found.

D&D General Requesting Advice on FR Pantheon

Asmodeus is in Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide (SCAG) P21. I never heard of him there until 5e and have not used him yet. There are so many other gods to use. I think I tend to use only 8-10 of the gods.

D&D 5E (2024) Does ring of fire resistance, and fire resistance stack from other sources?

It is like advantage/disadvantage where you have it or not have it. I have not played with double advantage where you roll 3 dice instead of two, but heard that it is ok to play with.

D&D General Requesting Advice on FR Pantheon

I would always have Tymora in the list as well. The god of Luck is a favorite among adventurers. Maybe Umberlee is you have a larger ocean theme, but Talos can substitute easily. Try to have one for each alignment with enough bad guys to have their own conflict, and maybe a few good...

Worlds of Design: In the Shadow of Tolkien

I started playing D&D when I was 8 or so. I did not try to read the LotR books until I was in high school and then only got through the Hobbit. I recall the cartoon movie at some point but likely about the same time I started playing. Not sure on how much influence it had. The movies I did...
