D&D General Was the future king that was disguised as a commoner right to get 7 orphans that he felt sorry for adopted by wealthy merchants?

Yes, the disguised future King was right to help. It’s always right to help those in need. His next step should be to declare a people’s republic and redistribute wealth so that nobody is ever in such dire need again. Might run up against some opposition, of course, but, hey, it’s your dream.

D&D General How would you use Carrion Crawlers meaningfully?

I love carrion crawlers! I have used as a bit of a side-quest to recover a magical weapon that belonged to a warrior slain by the creatures but never more than that. I guess this supports the OP’s question. Both the ideas expressed above are great.

    D&D 5E (2014) 7 Days to D&D

Well, if you do end up running this, I'll probably be one of the players! so I'll get my retaliation in first: I like the idea, but not so keen on base-building, though if you have ready made "base" or bases; pockets of civilisation holding out, possibly with the need to cross the infected and...

D&D General Classic Monsters - Retired Roll Call?

Is black pudding a thing in USA? I mean the food item, not the monster. I’ve travelled a lot in USA and never seen it, but admittedly I haven’t really looked. It’s not exactly major-league popular in UK, but it does appear on most cafe breakfast menus, especially in the north.

D&D General Classic Monsters - Retired Roll Call?

I last fought a carrion crawler about two weeks ago; my grandson is running Dragons of Icespire Peak, as a first-time DM, and there was one in an old silver mine. I first fought a carrion crawler when Jimmy Carter was President! I have fond memories of the roper in Forge of Fury, but they’re...

D&D General Classic Monsters - Retired Roll Call?

I’ve either used or encountered all of these in the last two years, except the intellect devourer.

D&D General Why would someone that's the heir of both A Very Minor Duke and A Minor Baroness become A Adventurer?

I was going to answer your question but then I rolled a 15,27,80, 09 and 62 on my mate’s ex-partner’s table, which meant that I have a sister that I never knew about, who is married to an owlbear (but not the owlbear in the D&D movie; a different owlbear) and their son is a long-dead vampiric...

TSR The Full & Glorious History of NuTSR

@Retreater , I have no idea what you actually look like, but after opening the post with "I'm your huckleberry," and proceeding to gun down NuTSR so ruthlessly, I'll always visualise you as Val Kilmer.

TSR Why I still love the Real TSR

The Christmas of 1977, when I got the White Boxed Set! No present has ever come close to that magic.

    AD&D 2E Intelligent Magic Swords? (2e AD&D)

Didn’t play much 2E but 1E had a system for magic swords, setting their ego against player characters with a view to controlling them. I’m guessing it was based on a combination of Sauron’s ring and Elric’s Stormbringer. Just an aside, but I remember a superb adventure in an early Dragon...

D&D General Which Enworlders do you want to game with?

Good idea. I'd be up for that.

Listening to old-timers describe RP in the 70s and 80s

I never played a game with the "rule" of all characters must start at Level 1. Sure, we started all campaigns at Level 1, but if a character was killed later on, that player brought in a new character at the same level as the rest of the party. Simply so they could contribute against tougher...

WFRP 4e The Enemy Within Campaign Book 1: Enemy in Shadows Session #14 Who Can You Trust?

Hey, @HalfOrc HalfBiscuit , love the user name. Do you have a Dukla Prague away kit by any chance?

WFRP 4e The Enemy Within Campaign Book 1: Enemy in Shadows Session #14 Who Can You Trust?

Love it! And it brings back great memories of the start of @TheSword 's game, with both the coach and the roadside inn.

D&D General When is the last time you played a tabletop RPG?

Luckily, I get to mix playing with DM-ing. Currently playing as: Luchs Von Schwerkrieg, the grim-visaged Witch-Hunter in Enemy Within. Shout out to @TheSword as DM. Arkaeus of Myrkona, the mighty warrior in the wonderful Scorpion Age setting. Shout out to @Steampunkette as DM. Seebo Blackberry...

D&D General How do you picture your D&D game in your mind?

Elmore-Realism, without the cheesecake elements, but with a strong dose of c1066 medieval reality thrown in.

D&D General Favorite villains from your games

Ah, Gaius, may he not RIP! We hated him so much that the party bard composed a song about him, but I’d run afoul of the moderators if I quoted it here!

D&D General Favorite villains from your games

As a DM, it has to be Tom Lumpyface from a Middle Earth campaign I ran for @TheSword and three others. Tom was a Breelander who the PCs rescued (with others) from an orc attack, but he later got to a nearby settlement ahead of the PCs and successfully claimed all the credit for the battle...

D&D General When is the last time you DMed a game?

It was damn good though; more Chaos, Warpstone and dark powers than I've ever seen squeezed into two hours. And those cats!
