D&D 5E (2024) New leak looks real bad

I mean, Myfarog was published in 2015, and somehow never became the 'Next Big Thing'. These chuckleheads, who Facebook recently served me an ad for, have been banned from every crowdsourcing platform that exists. I would describe both of these as 'the Commons working as intended'.

news scoop: insider account of how the statement was drafted, and the fear-based culture in Wizards offices

Whoa, what!? Is this the "Pickle-Brined Fried Chicken Sandwiches" recipe that Google has turned up?

OGL: What Are The Publishers Saying [UPDATED]

Speaking as someone who was working on a Black Hack derived game for zinequest, I'm a little at a loss on how to proceed, as my .pdf of TBH has the OGL in it and my print copy doesn't.

D&D 5E (2024) New leak looks real bad

$500 of Dwarven Forge!? That's, like... three whole rooms! ;) I kid, I kid. Their stuff is quite nice, from what I've seen.

It's a fabrication - the offending reddit user. I regret posting it.

D&D 5E (2024) New leak looks real bad

I mean, at the moment, we really don't - which is what they're trying to fix. Right now, you can buy the three core books and you and your friends can have fun for the rest of your lives. Not to indulge in conspiracy thinking, but I wouldn't be surprised to hear about "a new streamlined, digital...

D&D 5E (2024) New leak looks real bad

I mean - the price, as others have pointed out, is real high but plausible. I'm more skeptical in a "who on earth is this for?" sort of way.

D&D 5E (2024) New leak looks real bad

I suppose trying to kill the OGL makes more sense if we assume this is all true - after all, it's the kind of scheme that would only work if they literally have zero competition. ;)

D&D 5E (2024) New leak looks real bad

I mean, assuming this is all true, which I remain skeptical of - they’ve essentially reinvented Zork. Turning D&D into a MMO feels silly, as… we already have MMOs.

D&D 5E (2024) New leak looks real bad

I'm... awfully skeptical, but it's interesting that the pricing in the rumor lines up with the supposed 'leaked D&DBeyond slide' from awhile back: link. edit: This was confirmed as fake: link. What that says about the above? No idea.

Hasbro/WotC has crossed the Trust Thermocline

WotC claimed recently that about 20% of the user base for D&D are DMs - losing 10% of your player base is bad but not a death blow I’d say; losing half of the 5e DMs would be a sea change. Edit: And that’s aside from the posts I’ve started seeing on Reddit that essentially read, “…so, D&D sucks...

Is Alta Fox the reason for OGL 1.1?

I'm sure WotC would love to receive both licensing fees and right of refusal for stuff like that.

D&D General Are You Seriously Planning to Stop Playing and/or Running D&D Over The Recent OGL Developments?

I had honestly been wanting to do more ‘Call of Cthulhu’ anyway. I’ll also be quite curious to see what the new ‘Cyberpunk: Edgerunners’ starter box looks like.
