For example, the idea of the Ranger 10/Wizard 10. That results in a character that can only cast up to 5th level spells with a caster level of 10th, and a BAB of only +15, costing them their fourth attack per round. Much better (at least in terms of BAB and caster level) to go for Ranger...

Why not just play an Alchemist from the APG? It's a skills-oriented blow-stuff-up type, just with more weird mutation-inducing concoctions rather than gizmos and doodads.

How do you see yourself playing the character? If an orphan came up to you on the street, how would your character react? Give them money, take them to an orphanage so they could get help, kick them for the fun of it, or try and figure out how much you could get for their eternal soul if you use...

The Tome of Secrets is probably the best single class way to do a swashbuckler in Pathfinder. You might get slightly better results (or at least different ones) from a multiclass Mobile Fighter/Swashbuckler Rogue, using both archetypes from the APG.

Honestly, every D&D DM, regardless of what edition, or Pathfinder GM should have one. Period. Hands down, end of discussion. Just go buy it. You won't regret it.

Uh, no. Even as much as some of us old school psi fans may like the idea, in practice it's just a mess to try and integrate an entirely different system into most games. Psionics and magic have to be able to effect one another.

The Swashbuckler Rogue variant isn't nearly enough of a variation, it's just a few little changes. The Tome of Secrets Swashbuckler, though, that's probably still the best version out there. The rest of the book is basically worthless now, though.

It was supposed to be out this month (September) but it got pushed back so Paizo could actually release the GMG and APG in time for GenCon and not go insane while still releasing Bestiary II this year (now November instead of October, but at least still this year.)
