Level Up (A5E) Removing Pointless Death (+)

Yeah. I've had a few close calls and one PC death recently, but I've never had a TPK since I started playing A5e. My players handle themselves pretty well.

Did the other DM also have a problem with TPKs?

Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 5th Edition Is Coming in 2026

That's too bad. I love 2e. Best version of the game IMO.

Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 5th Edition Is Coming in 2026

Very much so. Easy for me though. The only person likely to keep with what's new in WHRPGs (or RPGs in general) is me.

Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 5th Edition Is Coming in 2026

Do you think they'll assume everyone will switch over once the new staff's out? That happens sometimes.

Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 5th Edition Is Coming in 2026

Not me. Bring on more content! I had a ton of fun with WHFRPG 1e and 2e. Had a bunch of books for 2e in particular back in the day.

Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 5th Edition Is Coming in 2026

I would be interested in a reissue of 1e. Don't have a physical copy of that game.

Bad luck. Did the paladin not see what happened to the rogue? Seems they could have potentially waited for the rogue to do their thing before walking in.

When Is a RPG "Complete" From a Publishing Perspective?

A game is done by default whenever they stop making it, but generally I'll keep buying a game I like so long as it is recognizably the same game (or can become so with a little work). L5R is a good example. I bought everything for that game from 1e to 2e, d20 (still based on a game I liked)...

The Many Faces of Roleplaying: How ‘RPG’ Became Everything and Nothing

Yeah, I don't believe "sports" and "rpg" are the same level of generalization (though both generalize of course).

The Many Faces of Roleplaying: How ‘RPG’ Became Everything and Nothing

Of course, not every RPG uses these labels to describe their game, and the biggest one kinda uses all of them, so confusion and clashing expectations still happen pretty regularly IME. I know I have to be clear when I run a game about my desires for simulationist sandbox play, while still being...

Level Up (A5E) Removing Pointless Death (+)

Fair enough. Why do you think that is? Are you running challenges beyond the level guidelines? Are your players not making good tactical choices? Are they getting into situations they can't get out of?

Do you really run a serious risk at your table of killing all your characters in regular play? That's rough. My PCs are rarely in serious danger of getting killed (although one did die a couple days ago).

D&D General 5e System Redesign through New Classes and Setting. A Thought Experiment.

That's true, but I dont think a game for every taste is a bad thing.

D&D General Making Spellcasters feel Caster-y without actually Casting?

Of course, if the only thing you're doing is re-skinning skill use and reducing or eliminating spell slots, that's a straight nerf.

D&D General Making Spellcasters feel Caster-y without actually Casting?

So if they had zero slots? Are they still casting spells, or just using class abilities that feel "magical"? I suppose in 5e you'd end up with something similar to warlock invocations, with different choices, schedules of acquisition, and flavor. In which case I'd be strongly tempted to make...

D&D General Why Enworld should liberate D&D from Hasbro

First if all, I haven't commented on the artwork, and have no issue with its existence. So let's not connect my comments to that. Secondly, there are many possibilities. Options for enhanced exploration and social challenges and general play, choices in PC abilities as you level, mass combat...

D&D 5E (2024) Mike Mearls explains why your boss monsters die too easily

Yeah, my last game with my family they all dumped intelligence. It was quite frustrating as a GM because they wouldn't let me remind them of anything that had happened in previous sessions (beyond what they remembered themselves), because it wouldn't be true to their devil-may-care PCs.
