    Worlds of Design: Only Human

I like the degree of character customization that you can get with Heritage, Culture, Background and Destiny while keeping things short and simple.

    Worlds of Design: Only Human

Another Level Up reference. In that 5e adjacent RPG, Culture alongside Heritage, Background and Destiny play a part in developing your character's origin. It represents all of the learned traits your character gained while growing up in a particular society. For instance, if you were playing a...

    Worlds of Design: Only Human

So, which cultural traits of the elves and which cultural traits of the humans do you see either culture having in terms of game mechanics? And how did such a mixed culture come about in the first place? I think you mean they should be sociological in nature. Yes, Geography and biology do play...

Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

Maybe we're looking at a pic of Athas during its' Green Age? ;) Back when it resembled every other world on the Material Plane. Before the dark times...

    Worlds of Design: Only Human

True. It might also depend on where their deities might have chosen to place them when the setting was created. Did their deities pick out some prime real estate for their chosen species that happened to be some distance from the neighbors? Or did the deities decide to let their chosen species...

    Worlds of Design: Only Human

Culture should be associated with species because the latter created the former over a period of time. It's the social contract that members of that species created thru consensus to determine amongst themselves as to what was right and what was wrong, what traditions they were going to develop...

D&D's The Book of Dragons Comes Out in August

No, but they can certainly try. I think PF1 was just as bad in this department as 3e was. ;)

D&D's The Book of Dragons Comes Out in August

It wouldn't be a book. It would be a tome. The Tome of Dragons. ;)

D&D's The Book of Dragons Comes Out in August

How about bringing some of the 4e dragons into 5e? ;) 4e added some new Chromatic and Metallic dragons into the mix.

    Worlds of Design: Only Human

Maybe you should take a look at Level Up's Destiny feature? It provides the PCs a reason to leave behind their homes, their friends and their jobs to undertake an adventure well outside their comfort zone.

D&D's The Book of Dragons Comes Out in August

Yeah, it would have been interesting to see some of the 4e dragons, like the Cobalt dragon and the Orium dragon, appearing in this book. Make it a book on True Dragons. ;)

D&D's The Book of Dragons Comes Out in August

My copy of D&D: The Book of Dragons showed up on my doorstep around 5 pm EST today. :) Right now most of my attention is on the two-page spread on the Dragonborn aka the Ash-Marked Ones. Any idea on why they are sometimes called the Ash-Marked Ones? Page one on the Dragonborn provides a bit of...

    Worlds of Design: Only Human

In the Shadowrun setting, all of the metahuman races are still members of Homo sapiens. Elves are Homo sapiens nobilis. Orks are Homo sapiens robustus. Halflings are a metavariant of Dwarves from the British Isles.

D&D General More Details Revealed for Forgotten Realms Digital Expansions

The second half of this post has a loophole. ;)

I don't get the arguments for bioessentialism

It's easier to be subjective than objective about something. Being objective means you have to put aside any biases you might have and for some that's not any easy thing to do as it's a part of who they are.

What makes a successful superhero game?

True. She could have done that, but then she would have left in order to spend some time getting Thanos out of her hair, off her skin and out of her uniform. :p A little too close and personal even for her. :p Edit: This scenario did happen btw between Superman and the Flash in DC's DCeased...

What makes a successful superhero game?

As a fan of Mutants and Masterminds 2e, I liked using the RPGs Point Buy system to create customizable superpowers that make your character feel unique and thematic.
