D&D 5E (2024) Opinions on the Topaz Dragon Reverse Wings?

The green's new looks certainly made the Green Dragonborn more appealing to me. :)

D&D 5E (2024) Opinions on the Topaz Dragon Reverse Wings?

I briefly checked out this old forum thread (2 years before I joined EN World ;)). While I do like the dragon designs that have been around since 3e, I also like it when artists try their hand of making their own takes of the dragons in D&D. Like this Forest Dragon, for instance: It would...

D&D 5E (2024) Opinions on the Topaz Dragon Reverse Wings?

The staying power of the Blue, no doubt. ;) TBH, did any of the True Dragons really need a remake of their looks for 2024 D&D?

D&D 5E (2024) Opinions on the Topaz Dragon Reverse Wings?

Before the Blue Dragon was redesigned for 2024 D&D, it was one of the more recognizable True Dragons in D&D thanks to its' frilled 'ears' and that massive, bifurcated horn on the middle of its' draconic muzzle. It's still recognizable in 2024 D&D, but its' looks look less impressive to me than...

D&D 5E (2024) How excited are you for the 2 upcoming Forgotten Realms books?

I think I am going to adopt a wait-and-see approach when it comes to these two books.

D&D 5E (2024) Opinions on the Topaz Dragon Reverse Wings?

The 2014 Dragons vs the 2024 Dragons? ;)

D&D 5E (2024) Opinions on the Topaz Dragon Reverse Wings?

Regarding each of the Chromatic, Metallic and Gem Dragons in D&D, was there a version of them that was your favorite? I tend to like the older versions of these dragons.

D&D's The Book of Dragons Comes Out in August

A 3-month video which made many a viewer on EN World (me included) decide to go and get it. ;) As for a review of the physical book, I can imagine we'll be seeing them as soon as the first of us gets their copy in the mail, looks through it and posts it here on EN World. ;)

I don't get the arguments for bioessentialism

Especially when they have four distinct Elven cultures to choose from in Level Up. High, Wood, Shadow and Eladrin.

D&D 5E (2024) Opinions on the Topaz Dragon Reverse Wings?

Let's hope that the spectral wings of the Topaz Dragonborn aren't going to be set up backwards as well. :p

D&D 5E (2024) Opinions on the Topaz Dragon Reverse Wings?

Interesting that the designers of the Topaz Dragon decided to use the wing anatomy of Enantiornithes (Ancient Greek for "opposite birds") for them. I looked them up on Wikipedia. The 'backward wings' are the result of a convex scapula and a concave coracoid. Modern birds have a concave scapula...

D&D 5E (2024) Opinions on the Topaz Dragon Reverse Wings?

The only version of the 2024 Gem Dragons that I like so far is the Amethyst Dragon. The Topaz Dragon's body is okay; I can go with it. But the reverse wings give me the impression that it can only do the backstroke when it flies. Luckily that feature can be ignored by any DM for a pair of...

I don't get the arguments for bioessentialism

This kind of reminds me of Destiny in A5e. :) From the Adventurer's Guide: Every hero has something that drives them forward, an inner spark or outward goal that compels them to risk everything for a life of adventure. Choosing a destiny provides important roleplaying cues and features that...

    Worlds of Design: Only Human

This is definitely true for an RPG like Shadowrun where all of the PC species in the Sixth World came from Human stock.

I don't get the arguments for bioessentialism

In previous editions of D&D, the general information for a given species would have wound up in a Complete Book of X for 2e or a Races of X book for 3e. As for the MM2024, NPC info is something of a one-size-fits-all.

I don't get the arguments for bioessentialism

Why is it odd for a Halfling to have an 18 Strength? If I was playing a Halfling with an 18 Strength, I would be doing a Strength (Deception) check to fool my opponent into thinking that I couldn't be stronger than him. :p Actually, no, I wouldn't need to do one at all because they would have...

    D&D 5E (2024) Representing afflictions in D&D 5e - which do you think work best/least dislike.

In Level Up, there are two Trackable Conditions that the characters can find themselves dealing with, Fatigue and Strife. Fatigue represents exhaustion, exposure, hunger, injuries, and other physical factors which gradually wear a creature down. Strife otoh represents corruption, despair, fear...
