You don't have to play today's video games to know how they look, you just need to go to YouTube and watch clips of those who do play them. ;) The level of detail and animation in some of them is very lifelike.

In Level Up, there are a group of dragons known as the Essence dragons. They're less common than Chromatic, Metallic and Gem Dragons. Celestial, Chaos, Earth, River, Sea, Shadow, Spirit, and Underworld (and the Dragon Turtle). Monstrous Menagerie has info on the Earth, River and Shadow Essence...

Building a bigger, stronger, faster dragon... ;) For me, more dragon groups mean more kinds of Dragonborn. :p

PF1 has about 7 groups of True Dragons. Chromatic, Metallic, Primal, Esoteric, Planar, Imperial and Outer. Is that enough? ;) If 5e had this number of dragon groups in it, I would be ecstatic.

If I was done with 5e, I probably would go with Level Up because it offers a lot of customization that isn't there in D&D.

It probably depends on whether or not the TTRPG will be based off of the original series, the remake of the series or both. Personally I would like to see it based off of the remake because of its' anthropomorphic diversity. ;)
