D&D General “‘Scantily Clad and Well Proportioned’: Sexism and Gender Stereotyping in the Gaming Worlds of TSR and Dungeons & Dragons.”

While I'm fully Asian in background, I don't think there's much of an power imbalance for someone who's partially East Asian and European in background that lives in a western country. There definitely still is the "not fitting in" thing. But that can be for someone like me who's an Asian...

D&D General “‘Scantily Clad and Well Proportioned’: Sexism and Gender Stereotyping in the Gaming Worlds of TSR and Dungeons & Dragons.”

I know things are better now with mini choices, but looking back I really find it funny that a character I played was depicted on the board as a Blood Angel Space Marine, when that's certainly the opposite of what my character was.

D&D General “‘Scantily Clad and Well Proportioned’: Sexism and Gender Stereotyping in the Gaming Worlds of TSR and Dungeons & Dragons.”

I do like some those old pictures, but I know it's never been in the right context for D&D and how things would actually go down. Like maybe it's more like some adventurers saying "and here I was like in my trusty armored underwear and greatsword fighting off 30 orcs after the last night we...

Planescape The Planar Trade Consortium as a campaign villain

I guess that works initially better than the Pursuit of the MacGuffin which will probably come into play later.

Planescape The Planar Trade Consortium as a campaign villain

He could definitely disguise himself as a Stefanie or any other variant of that name, an average Oni is fairly charismatic to pull that off with their shapeshifting ability and Estaban is an exceptional Oni who will "level up" as the campaign advances. I figured that there should be some...

Planescape The Planar Trade Consortium as a campaign villain

Initially they built their wealth importing anything, they started in Sigil and Sigil doesn't produce much in the way of raw materials as everything needs to be imported from other planes. But after that they've built enough wealth they don't need to be generic importer. Though Sigil relies on...

D&D General Dinosaurs in your campaigns

For the "Loc Ness Monster" should they be an Awakened Plesiosaurus or a Druid that just likes to be something like a Plesiosaurus.

D&D General Dinosaurs in your campaigns

I've always found it amusing that Dinosaurs have been ever present in D&D. But I'm wondering how common or rare are they in your campaigns, for something that's extinct in our world. Are they everywhere, or only live in secluded places? Based on some more recent findings about Dinosaurs, do...

Planescape The Planar Trade Consortium as a campaign villain

Thinking back on the Dutch East India Company which is part of my inspiration on this, they were heavily involved with the spice trade and so was the British Empire. There's the irony about Britain going to war over spices, but many British stereotyped as not using spices. So something like...

Planescape The Planar Trade Consortium as a campaign villain

I guess one theme I haven't thought of yet with the PTC is Gentrification, but Gentrification in Sigil can probably only go so far. I think the way the City is you couldn't fully gentrify The Hive or Undersigil based on how other forces and influences are there. The Lady of Pain herself might...

Planescape The Planar Trade Consortium as a campaign villain

In my mind the Merkhants who lost their position as an Ascendant Faction (using the 5e term) was primarily because of the PTC's ascension decades ago. The PTC does have colonial ambitions on many worlds, the gate-town Rigus being one of the many places as a staging ground where they will...

Planescape The Planar Trade Consortium as a campaign villain

When you think about it, wealth is an abstraction. I guess in some ways they could try to "buy" the multiverse or reshape the planes with their wealth. It might be Esteban or a completely original character that's the Centre-Of-All when their plans come in place.

Hasbro Confirms New Unannounced Dungeons & Dragons Video Game in Development

I don't think AAA games of their own properties need to be too family friendly, as those types of games tend to be more out of reach for those below 18. They'll probably go with something that's PG and generally acceptable for 16 year olds. But all things considered, I saw movies like...

Planescape The Planar Trade Consortium as a campaign villain

So I'm thinking of a theoretical campaign where the Planar Trade Consortium is one of the major conflicts, taking up 1 out of 3 if using the Rule-Of-Three theme. The other 2 might be Sigilian gangsters and the Far Realm's influence. But the conflict with the Planar Trade Consortium would be one...

Hasbro Confirms New Unannounced Dungeons & Dragons Video Game in Development

I assume that many of those new games are going to be in the Unreal Engine given that it's an industry standard, and they're dealing with studios that probably aren't going to try to re-invent the wheel for game engines.

Hasbro Confirms New Unannounced Dungeons & Dragons Video Game in Development

I guess they could try an actual Planescape: Torment sequel, we've already got a "spiritual sequel" in the form of Torment: Tides of Numenera, but maybe it's time for an actual sequel (though not about the Nameless One).

    D&D 5E (2024) Predictions for when we'll get MM 2025 previews?

As far as previews we had so far, it seems like it's: Uni and the Hunt for the Lost Horn Blink Dog, Bugbear Warrior, Bullywug Warrior, Mage, Sprite, Worg, Warhorse, Bullywug Bog Sage Scions of Elemental Evil Berserker, Cultist, Cultist Fanatic, Fire Elemental, Gray Ooze, Incubus, Knight, Ogre...

    D&D 5E (2024) Predictions for when we'll get MM 2025 previews?

We sort have already got some previews with the Scions of Elemental Evil adventure, for the MM which will come out in February. I definitely think big previews will start in January, but I feel smaller previews might be in December after all there's a lot of monsters, and they just need to...

D&D 5E (2024) Bard houserule: Bard's get the same starting weapon proficiency as Rogues

In the 2024 PHB Bards only get proficiency in all simple weapons, and lose proficiency in rapiers and whips. I'm aware that for many Bards they'll probably never bother to use a rapier unless they take one of the subclasses that grant them all weapon proficiencies at 3rd level, but using a...
