Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

Other thoughts on Dark Sun, since it seems like they're going to release it in 2026... For defiling vs preserver mechanics, I think they should go by the assumption that casting arcane magic the standard way is the act of preserving. It's more or less how it happened in previous editions. I...

Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

My input first on the subclasses, most of them pretty good except maybe some changes the Gladiator should get: -I like the Circle of Preservation Druid, it's quite powerful enough that some people are comparing it to the Twilight Cleric. In my opinion, it's not a Preserver per se, just a Druid...

D&D General In 2025 FR D&D should PCs any longer be wary of the 'evil' humanoids?

From 1994: "Tieflings live with both pride and shame of who and what they are. They have no culture of their own, and most are loners, which fits their background. Some slip into the edges of human society, becoming poets and artists who describe the corrupt fringes of the respectable world...

D&D 5E (2024) What books would you like to see (in 2026 and beyond)?

Whichever book has the Psion in it, it was featured in an UA so I hope it's going to be in a future book.

D&D General In 2025 FR D&D should PCs any longer be wary of the 'evil' humanoids?

Tieflings have gone back to what they were before 4e, no default assumptions of being related to Asmodeus. 2024 PHB they've gone far enough back to at least the 3e assumptions with some of the 2e assumptions. The mention that some are born on Lower Planes does imply the 2e bit of some Tieflings...

D&D 5E (2024) When are we getting announcements for 2026 books?

I remember them using comparisons to Mad Max back when Dark Sun came out. I still think it's a good way to describe Dark Sun, even with the other Mad Max movies like Fury Road and Furiosa, that have come out after long after Beyond the Thunderdome was released.

D&D's The Book of Dragons Comes Out in August

I'd doubt they cover all Dragons, 3e might have been the worse for just coming up with new types of Dragons. I remember there being at least 1 Dragon for every plane out there. Some of them were interesting, some of them were just trying to fill in the grid. Even if it's amusing that Rust...

D&D General In 2025 FR D&D should PCs any longer be wary of the 'evil' humanoids?

Tieflings were a PC race before they ever got an entry in any Monstrous Compendium, they've been around since 2e back in 1994. They had an alignment restriction of "any alignment but Lawful Good" something that's been ignored in every edition since 2e.

D&D General In 2025 FR D&D should PCs any longer be wary of the 'evil' humanoids?

In 2024 the default alignments for Goblins are Chaotic Neutral and Fey, while Kobolds are now Neutral and Dragons. Hobgoblins and Bugbears are also Fey, but still have the same default alignments as before. They're still not necessarily "civilized" people, but I'd suspect there'd be some...

D&D General The ph icon characters

Some of those 2024 PHB characters show up in more than once in the art. I'd like to know some of the stories behind them, out of interest. Like are the Tiefling Bard with Elven features and the Elven Sorcerer siblings? How did the College of Dance Bard end up in a party with the Dragonborn...

D&D 5E (2024) Opinions on the Topaz Dragon Reverse Wings?

I noticed that Topaz Dragons back in Fizban's Treasury of Dragons had reverse wings but it looks like the art for them (linked below) in the Book of Dragons really emphasizes that feature on them. Is it really that "controversial"? I like that they're wings are that way, along with the...

D&D General The Purple Dragon Knights are tied to an Amethyst Dragon (confirmed)

The way that Metaplots in various TTRPGs have turned out have left a bad taste in general. They lost their appeal sometime between 2000 and 2010. What happened with the various D&D campaign settings is one of the strongest examples of why they were a bad thing, but also White Wolf deciding to...

D&D General The Purple Dragon Knights are tied to an Amethyst Dragon (confirmed)

I don't care much for FR lore, but I feel they should change some aspects of it over editions. I think they're no longer considering anymore that Dwarves couldn't be Wizards before and no longer acknowledge any lore about why they couldn't and why that changed. And I wouldn't consider...

Dungeons & Dragons Teams Up With New Holland For New Beer

The minimum suggested age is 12, so in 7 years in my province or 9 years in the US they start to become of drinking age. I guess that's one way to acknowledge those who have been playing the game for years.

Dungeons & Dragons Teams Up With New Holland For New Beer

It's legal in all of Canada, but I'm quite sure it's not allowed to cross international borders yet. Though I think someone should make an edible in the form of a D20.

    D&D General Kara Tur 5e

Every time someone brings up "but what about the PRC, we can't include anything Chinese because of that" I see it as an excuse to exclude Canadian/American/Australian/whatever born Chinese like me.

    D&D General Kara Tur 5e

There's not only East Asian Elves in the PHB, the same picture that has an East Asian Elf has a Gnome with African features in it. The Halfling species art, has a Halfling mother and her child that look South Asian. The Iconic Cleric Picture in the PHB is of a Dwarf with East Asian features. The...

    D&D General Kara Tur 5e

I don't see there being a good reason for Spirit Folk being a separate species in 5e, either they're a Planetouched species like Genasi, or they're Elves. With there being East Asian Elves featured in the PHB art (such as on the back cover), there's absolutely no reason for certain PC species...

D&D 5E (2024) Next issue of Game Informer will have details on the two upcoming Forgotten Realms books

I think Genasi in the 2024 format can be printed as 1 species with 4 different legacies/affinities/whatever. Reborn could be reprinted, as I think Dhampirs would be actual humanoids despite the vampirism, but Reborn would be the actual Undead PC species.

D&D 5E (2014) Alternate Covers of Upcoming Forgotten Realms Books Revealed

That really reminds me of Dragon Age Veilguard, with some of in game illustrations and the cards.
