    Game Cafe in San Antonio?

I know of game stores, of course (Dragon's Lair, Alien Worlds, Court of Gamers, Knight Watch, etc.). But I keep hearing about Game Cafes which are, supposedly, places where you can game AND order food or drink. Are there any around San Antonio, Tx? A google search brings up sports bars and...

    D&D General Your favorite PC?

Brother Merciful Blessings aka Mercy. I fairly clueless Healing-focused Human priest who was convinced that all the other gods were simply pale reflections of his own Uber Deity: The Protector or that of his god's opposite: The Adversary. And he wasn't afraid to preach it that way neither.

Genres/Settings I enjoy watching but not playing in. You?

Oh, and The Expanse. I thought while watching it: This would make an excellent RPG. When the kickstarter came around, I jumped right on it. I really like playing the AGE system. I think it does what it aims for brilliantly. But... I just couldn't run it. I found that, while I had ideas and...

Genres/Settings I enjoy watching but not playing in. You?

What I found after playing an excellent game of FFG Star Wars with Jacob Lewis is that I really, really like Star Wars... to watch. I thought the FFG system was brilliant, but I find that I don't particularly enjoy playing Star Wars. I love... eh-hem... LOVE watching things Star Wars, reading...

D&D 5E (2014) Those who come from earlier editions, why are you okay with 5E healing (or are you)?

Yup. I'm ok with it. It's a game with game pieces and parts. I like playing games. It's not a reality simulation.

    Your RPG $$$s

The last purchase I made for myself was the new Eberron book. I read it. It's sitting on my shelf. It's been a wake-up call for me as I was staring at my bookcase the other day and it dawned on me that I have more stuff than I will ever need or use. I have things that I've never even read! My...

What are you Reading? Debonnaire December 2019 edition

I'm working my way through the Alphabet Murder Mysteries by Sue Grafton. Currently I'm on R is for Ricochet. My mom loves those books so she turned me on to them. I'm really, really liking them. Next is the "Number Murder" mysteries/Stephanie Plum mysteries by Janet Evanovich which she also...

They pull me back in! (SW is the Godfather of my RPG)

I think we've all been there. Or at least I try to delude myself into thinking so. I like to play other RPGs. I've tried recently FFG Star Wars, Modiphius STA, and played D&D5e online fairly consistently. But... Everytime I start daydreaming about RPGs or look at a program and think: "Hey...

What's Your Favorite System for Star Wars

For me? Absolutely nothing. It is a lot smaller with fewer rules. I freely admit that I'm fueled primarily by nostalgia.

What's Your Favorite System for Star Wars

By far, my favorite system for Star Wars is the WEG 1e. But I must admit that it is probably because I got it for my birthday when it was just published and I have some serious nostalgia going on. I did really like playing the FFG system with @Jacob Lewis . It's a fine replacement and I can see...

D&D General How long do new players get before they're expected to know the rules?

Simple stuff, too. However, Mr. Mercer does a good job as a DM as he either knows the answer, is able to look things up quickly without breaking the flow too much, or can make a quick table rule that is close to the actual rule.

Maybe It's Time for a Break?

Just a quick followup on my end: My FG D&D 5e game has wrapped up way early as... well... turns out my players are brilliant and figured out the mystery. Which lead to them skipping over a bunch of stuff. And then the BBG when down under a well-prepared hail of attacks. So my last two sessions...

D&D General How long do new players get before they're expected to know the rules?

Not really. I think the word needs is a bit strong, but I understand the sentiment. For games I'm in (but not necessarily running): I think the DM should to know most of the rules and/or be familiar enough to make a ruling that is based on the way the rules work. Especially for rules heavy...
