A still did more damage. I mean, i can go both ways. Even with advantage, Battlemaster will still go first and kill before A gets a turn. Just not as often. last enemy to die. And they focus fire, because teamwork. Average damage delt. At least that was what you where comparing.

D&D 5E (2024) Circle Casting is gonna break a lot of games

I was wrong, you can't augment cantrips. New rating 6/5 (still overpowered). Same strategy, but hit with something like Heat Metal or Phantasmal Force that does ongoing damage. May take more than one cast. Moonbeam can still chase and kill anything with 60' dash speed, but that's a bit more...

Possibilities that you want (A gets an extra turn)/ total possibilities. number of times you roll initiative per day (4?) damage A does in a round. And I would assume each outcome (C dies after A just as often as C dies after B). Ratio would be a little different for a controller who does...

Suggested nerf for Augment. 100' per secondary spell slot level used. Max 1 mile.

I would rather split concentration at that point. If you have enough willing creature within 30', I don't expect 150' or 1000' would make much difference. You have a big enough army. But losing concentration would be disastrous.

D&D 5E (2024) Circle Casting is gonna break a lot of games

Rating Augment 8/5 (broken) In combat: o many spells that "in range you can see" (Sacred Flame), combined with scouting (familiar, Arcane Eye, gaze of 2 minds) and you can kill things way out of range for them to respond. Definitely needs nerfed. Even without seeing "though" walls, this can...

there are a few circles specific spells in the book that really work well for "unleashing hell" by getting a bunch of apprentices.

That's only for reducing component costs. Half the effects just takes an action. The rest take a slot (any level).

I could be wrong, but don't think magic initiate works. You need actual slots. Also, it takes multiple actions and multiple concentrations to do, and often multiple slots. Most combats are better off with 2 lighting bolts than 1 wide one. You lose focus fire. Now, i do see this used for...

    D&D 5E (2024) Tuning big single creatures into multi-part-creatures.

I quite like that idea, with the monsters trying to disrupt the caster and allies trying to protect the wizard. But i feel like that would require a new edition with that philosophy more up front.

Assuming a 3 part creature (or 3 parts left alive) Your suggestion: Cast Banish at level 4 (1 target), needs 3 failed saves. My suggestion: Cast Banish at level 6 (3 targets), needs 3 failed saves. Not sure which is more balanced.

some of each. I guess. "Roll an Int check". "It's big enough to attack just it's leg" just to be clear, I'm not suggesting that only part of it teleports. You need to teleport/banish/push all parts together, or it doesn't go. When your the size of 5 creatures, you need power to banish 5...

    D&D 5E (2024) Tuning big single creatures into multi-part-creatures.

Good points. And yea, these generally all have the same stats and each one is simple. It should be doing the same amount as the current one, just spread out. But I think using bloodied keeps the feeling well enough. So 5 seems good for my example IMO. Also, I think it depends on if the...

    D&D 5E (2024) Tuning big single creatures into multi-part-creatures.

I agree that AoE should be more effective than 1 target, but less effective than hitting all of them. How about Half the non-Incapacitated parts (rounded up) Monsters choice. Also something about the number of 5' cubes covered. I.e. A red dragon blasted with a cone of cold and he puts his...

    D&D 5E (2024) Tuning big single creatures into multi-part-creatures.

I don't see how it would be any more tricky to balance than fighting 3-5 normal creatures. there are no facing rules, so just pick a part within range. Same rules as if you had a rider and mount or a bunch of tiny creatures (with AoE exception) All parts share the same stats, but you can...

    D&D 5E (2024) Tuning big single creatures into multi-part-creatures.

I reduced the number of parts by making use of Bloodied. I.e. bloodied wings reduces fly speed. Keeps the same feel, but i agree, I did get a bit carried away with 9 parts. Could be convinced to reduce it further. Edit: 3 to 5 parts sounds about right IMO.

    D&D 5E (2024) Tuning big single creatures into multi-part-creatures.

The idea is to turn big creatures into multiple connected smaller ones. Each part has it's own HP and turn. This replaces legendary resistance, legendary actions, and multi-attack. As you get more turns to make saves, and do more small actions between PC turns. AoE's only affect half the...

Or if you change targets. Of course, you can take both. It's a die less for the battlemaster to do that, and depends on the number of fights per short rest. It would still be nice to see the numbers.

Precision attack does more damage. Turning 0 damage into 1d8+dex(+proficiency with GWM). Even if you still miss half the time, that's better damage. It's just damage, no fancy effect, but more damage. Add Champion's advantage on initiative. Like 1 extra turn per day.

Bladesinger was more a general comment, not aimed at you specifically. But what's the rest of your party? If you have a barbarian or paladins that's just going to run up and hit things, then using battlemaster to push isn't going to add any value. If you have a druid putting spiked growth down...
