Upcoming AAA/AA CRPGs or story-based RPGs (updated 15/04/2025)

Hopefully, yeah - Oblivion is an interesting middle-ground between the bonkers do-anything energy of Morrowind and the simplifications of Skyrim, its customisable class system is a definite asset. Wouldn't mind if they scaled up the map a bit, though - that Imperial capital city that you can...

    D&D 5E (2014) BG3: The Final Patch - An Animated Short

It's not all it's cracked up to be.

What videogames are you playing in 2025?

Yeah, turning off the QTEs was an accessibility feature they patched in after release. You can also disable the puzzles in DocOck's lab, but I enjoyed those so never did. This is one of the few games I've 100%ed. The only parts I found a drag were the Taskmaster traversal challenges - I never...

What videogames are you playing in 2025?

As a game I prefer this one to either of the follow-ups, web swinging still feels fresh and it does a great job of ramping up the stakes and tension. The enforced-stealth side character missions are clunky, but I don't have the antipathy to them that a lot of people do. I do turn off the...

Yeah, even the neighbours seemed kinda cool with it after the initial shock.

Spoilers Doctor Who s15 (or 2) [[spoilers!]]

Since 24th May is a Saturday and will coincide with the seventh episode of the series, I'm guessing they'll resolve the issue in that episode.

Probably that whole "crossing my own timeline" thing that's always an important issue except when it isn't.

What videogames are you playing in 2025?

Currently playing through Subnautica for the nth time, mainly because once you're familiar with it it's a fairly chill game to play while listening to podcasts (aside from when you get turned around in a cave system and absolutely fail to find your way back out to your sub before your air runs out).

In this time, having generative AI turn out not to be the villain feels like a genuine twist.

    What Is A Superhero?

I suppose that does highlight one thing specific to this genre that hasn't been brought up: Action and physical combat. None of the examples and counter-examples touted about in these threads that I can recall have lacked those aspects. Indeed, none of the people discussed as being superheroes...

    What Is A Superhero?

In this context, are the Guardians of the Galaxy movies superhero movies or just sci-fi movies? They feature exceptional individuals, but not to the extent of being out of scale with others around them. Peter Quill's gadgets are mostly off-the-shelf Ravager gear.

Best superhero movie of all time? (Nominations thread)

I'm trying to think of anything that would disqualify Sonic 3 from being a superhero movie, and I'm drawing a blank. It certainly seems to check all the boxes, moreso than many that are explicitly marketed as superhero movies.

What videogames are you playing in 2025?

Not sure on the technicalities, but it might be simpler to use an emulator.

In real life, Dire Wolves, resurrected from the dead

Indeed. An alien race with the capacity and outlook to develop such safety measures prior to introducing automobiles into society would most likely never have needed them in the first place.

In real life, Dire Wolves, resurrected from the dead

Protections which were developed as the technology matured and use-cases highlighted the need for them. Without the technology being in active use, they might never have been invented.

In real life, Dire Wolves, resurrected from the dead

Which is basically impossible, since the ramifications of a new technology on a civilisation level are emergent. They can't be predicted or simulated with any degree of reliability.

    Overrated/Underrated Geek Media

I still remember the most disappointing thing about Stallone's Judge Dredd movie being the fact that Demolition Man, which came out at roughly the same time, clearly demonstrated that he could bring the energy to that role that it needed.

Huh? I was saying the plan wouldn't work because of anti-American sentiment.
