Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

My dad was a lefty, too, and he had teachers doing that crap to him back in the 50s. His mom showed up at school and threatened to beat the teachers if it continued. They left him alone after that.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I have an autographed copy of the original book somewhere in a box. I hope he's able to do something great with the property. Can you imagine? Making something cool, it hitting big, then being locked out of using it for 35 years. What a terrible system.

Right-handed scissors are the worst. So many appliances and gadgets are made for righties. Spending more on guitars or not being able to find any. Ugh.

GMs: What is your prep to play ratio?

Yeah. I’ve been looking at a lot of modules lately and the amount of note taking, rewriting, reading, and re-reading you’d need to do to make most modules even barely functional is astronomical. Thankfully OSR/NSR modules are designed for use at the table with lots of bullet points, succinct...

A local indy bookstore has several on the shelves. The nearest Barnes & Noble stores have copies as well. Maybe it’s a shop problem.

What are you reading in 2025?

It’s also up to the author what edits they accept. The editor cannot force the edits on the author. The editor’s job is to improve what’s there, not change it. And the house always sides with the author. So if they want that 25-page pointless side quest / diatribe to stay, it stays. Yep. Most...

What are you reading in 2025?

Picked up Morbidly Curious by Coltan Scrivner, PhD. Basically, a scientist goes through all the relevant research about why people like horror as a genre. I'm just finished with chapter 1 and it's an absolute banger so far. Well worth the read for anyone who's a fan of horror and for anyone who...

    What was your 2nd RPG?

I started in 1984 with B/X and quickly switched to AD&D. My brothers were collectors and already had TSR's Top Secret and Star Frontiers along with other games. It wasn't even months before I grabbed up whatever I could find at the local game store. FASA's Star Trek RPG and TSR's Marvel Super...

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Yep. Computers are exceptionally bad at "don't include this." Anything with a "don't include this" will inevitably have that thing. Boolean searching only seems to work some times.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

At times it seems like the average person's ability to read is greatly diminished in recent years. Simple questions like, "I'm looking for X, not Y" are invariably met with, "You totally want Y."

Yep. When anyone says something is broken the first question should always be if it’s broken in theory or broken at the table. If it’s theoretical, it should be dismissed out of hand. If it’s from actual played experience, more information about context and circumstance are necessary.

Absolutely could be. That’s the one I remember being talked about the most.

Wizards of the Coast Re-Registers Dark Sun With USPTO

I am older and have almost embarrassingly strong feelings about Dark Sun. I'm not WotC's target audience. I likely haven't been for years despite their clear nostalgia bait. I know they won't just reprint the OG boxed set. Of course they won't. I know they will make changes. Of course they will...

That's the great thing about playing in a grimdark sandbox, any tiny bit of good the PCs get up to is like a shining beacon in the dark. There were, officially, many small villages of escaped slaves. You could easily start in one of those and have an entire campaign about striking out into the...

Just came across one of Justin Alexander's videos. This one on running horror games. Only about half-way through but it's really good and definitely worth the watch.

What are you reading in 2025?

For me it was Misery. For some reason I can handle supernatural horror far easier than grounded, mundane horror. Carrie and Firestarter? Cool. Fun ride. A mostly helpless man with a psychotic nurse? Gah!

Exactly. Like robots and Nazis, slavers are perennial favorite villains because they can be fought and killed with zero moral problems.

D&D General What D&D Would You Use For A Dungeon Focused Campaign?

If not B/X or OSE, then definitely Shadowdark. So much lighter and easier to hack than any of the rest and they're custom made for the task.
