D&D 5E (2024) Mike Mearls explains why your boss monsters die too easily

Magic isn’t comparable it’s a license to print money. That game single-handedly keeps flgs in business across America. Though, no I’m not waiting around for D&D to get better that’s not it’s focus and it doesn’t need to be. Time to try some more RPGs it’s never been better than now to explore.

D&D 5E (2024) Mike Mearls explains why your boss monsters die too easily

Im with you on this, but I think there is considerable risk to WotC as the only ones capable of doing a mutli-product offering. It may bring in more players and success and overall happier community, but it could also split them and cause a dip in overall sales. ITs a risk wher eI think WotC is...

D&D General 5e System Redesign through New Classes and Setting. A Thought Experiment.

Imma take a stab at this. Im gonna go for my pet project of social pillar focus. Im picturing something of political intrigue of courtly drama. Kings and knights and holypersons and jesters etc.. For funsies ill use Latin words for descriptions to give it some identity thats similar to known...

D&D 5E (2024) Mike Mearls explains why your boss monsters die too easily

Does it though? Does D&D define itself as the central game of the hobby or do we do that? I mean, its the obviously the largest in market share and WotC certainly will note that, but do they brand it as the "central game of the hobby"? Aside from that, I know its a rub but leaving many...

    Battletech Public Playtest Thread

Good? Well... There is MegaMek which runs on java (I know its the 21st century). Its dated, has no sound, but its a complete VTT of the Battletech ruleset that will allow you and your friends and folks from all over to play online. You can also use it as a resource for record sheets for offline...

I don’t think it’s much of an exploit only the fastest mechs can even make use of it. 🤷‍♂️

    Battletech Public Playtest Thread

A classic argument. Though its not about where you end, its about how much you moved in the turn. All the firing happened simultaneously while the mech ran a circle. Teh nature of jump jets doesnt allow one to move forward and back. Which is why many had a problem with the side table playtest...

    Battletech Public Playtest Thread

So, yeah he would have had a 1 TMM from the jump not TMM 3. The rules state you cant jump away and back in a single movement. Now, if it was a spider it could potentially dosey doe as a run and end at the same spot with a nice TMM,

What Do You Think Of As "Modern TTRPG Mechanics"?

I think an issue with random tables and why they fell out of favor is how little thought was put into their execution. Early games had piles of them and often they made little sense. The outcomes were funny in a random way, but not satisfying in delivering a good experience way. I think...

D&D 5E (2024) Mike Mearls explains why your boss monsters die too easily

Solving them perhaps to your satisfaction, but I can tell you 4E was no solution to me. I actually like the 5E approach and slower evolution. You can say im too safe and too grounded in tradition but at least I still want to play the game. Though, thats the rub, I could also point to a number of...
