    D&D 5E (2024) Eldritch Knight

They’re likely to get it anyway with War Caster a feat specially designed for spellcasters in combat. If you start giving feat abilities as class abilities all the time then what’s the point of the feat. Otherwise don’t use a shield as an eldritch knight.

Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerun - First Impressions

I thought so. I’ve seen a few comments asking about Abeir elements of the FR and I just wondered why folks were expecting that to be a part of things going forward.

    D&D 5E (2024) WotC Should Make 5.5E Specific Setting

Have any of the newly released settings actually stuck?… Ravnica, Theros, Strixhaven etc. or did they sell for a few months and get Forgotten completely. For me, there’s no point releasing something flash in the pan. It feels like a setting designed to be specific to 5.5 is condemning itself to...

Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerun - First Impressions

Isn’t everything on the continent returned to what was there before? I thought that was the point of the second Sundering?

D&D General Reasons I Love the Dalelands as a Campaign Location

Definitely great news. Very pleasantly surprised by the FR stuff released to date. For Ed to add four modern supplements is awesome. Though timing might be off as my Dalelands campaign is starting in Spring.

D&D 5E (2024) Orc lore in the new Forgotten Realms books?

The transparent explanation is in Tasha’s. 2024 doesn’t need to have a specific option. Everyone who cares about half elves knows they can play a half elf.

D&D 5E (2024) Orc lore in the new Forgotten Realms books?

Anybody who has been playing the game long enough to bemoan the loss of half orcs and half elves, already knows everything they need to know about playing a half orc or a half elf. WotC has taken a position that there is no mechanical difference between an elf and an elf with one or more humans...

    Are You A GM?

1:4 ratio of player to GM. Always a player in at least one campaign at a time. Usually DMing 3-5 alongside. I definitely and fervently think being a player regularly makes you a better DM though.

D&D General Gargoyles need to be redone.

Weeping Angels Baby! Its all about the quantum.

    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on New Bladesinger?

It really feels like we're overthinking this. Surely if you want more spell slots you play a Bladesinger and if you don't want more do EK. Bladesinger 1:3 Fighter-Wizard while Eldritch Knight is 1:3 Wizard-Fighter

Trailer The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping

Looking forward to this. I saw the first film again recently. I remember thinking how well some of the elements would translate to Dark Sun in cities ruled by Sorcerer Kings. Both the methods of control and the measures taken when control starts to slip!

Natural 20/1 Crit fails and Crit successes, How do you handle them?

So my next D&D campaign is going to add in an element of degrees of success. Where on non-combat rolls a over achieving by 5 gets some kind of boost and by 10 gets something substantial. Failing by 5 or more gets some form of disadvantage meanwhile failing by 10 gets results in a more tangible...

D&D 5E (2024) GMs: How long should it usually take to go from level 1 to 4?

I always thought 5e characters were pretty realized and capable at level 1. Sure they get a subclass and some important extras at level 3 but that’s only 900 XP of the 6500 XP they would need to reach 5. It always felt to me that the subclass was like the prestige class or kit of old.

D&D General XP: How Do You Like To Earn It?

I’m actually going back through old 2E dungeon magazine adventures and Forgotten Realms modules for inspiration for my next Dalelands campaign. There are some gems in there.

D&D General XP: How Do You Like To Earn It?

I’m all about the actions… slaying/overcoming monsters and obstacles and achieving objectives. I think the objectives are a big one missed off the list. A level appropriate XP award for achieving a level appropriate objective.

D&D 5E (2024) GMs: How long should it usually take to go from level 1 to 4?

Excellent. In that case 6 sessions. Vote cast. One session to level two Two sessions to level three Three-Four sessions for all future levels.
