Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 5th Edition Is Coming in 2026

I would say that is the best value RPG product I’ve ever seen. It’s rules lite because it’s a starter set so unlikely to be much affected by the new system. The gazetteer of Ubersreik is amazing. The adventure is a lot of fun and lasted my paid group 5 x 3 hour sessions. The handouts are...

Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 5th Edition Is Coming in 2026

very excited. If it’s backwards compatible to the same extent as D&D 2024 5e then I’ll be a happy bunny. Most of the splat books are careers, equipment, Endeavours etc rather than talents. They’re going to provide a guide to adjusting such things. Could be soon though. Im expecting draft pdf in...

Do you "roleplay" in non-TTRPG Games?

In all seriousness it might do. Whether I act it out or just narrate the menacing behaviour how I choose to roleplay the character could absolutely cause the party to make different decisions. So I would suggest it could have an impact.

Do you "roleplay" in non-TTRPG Games?

Who says it was funny. I do a very accurate and menacing Ozy explorer! 😜

Do you "roleplay" in non-TTRPG Games?

It depends by your definition of Roleplay… If it’s a broad definition ‘take control of and make choices as it you were a different person’ then we do that with lots of board games. Any board game that has players taking defined characters that behaves different because of their character...

D&D General Gaining spell slots (and other resources) during the fight

WFRP 4e has something called Advantage that builds up through successful actions. It might come from successfully attacking but they might also include trying to get a read on your opponent, surveying the battlefield or trying to bluff or intimidate your foe. There are two optional ways of...

D&D General Settings of Hope vs Settings of Despair

Using that standard I also stand firmly into the middle. Though to be honest I apply that to all settings including Forgotten Realms and Eberron. I think it largely comes down to how you play your NPCs. I prefer to think that everyone considers their kind of people ‘good people’ and that most...

    D&D 5E (2024) Foundry Support

Woohoo! If those three come out with a couple of months of book release with full Foundry integration I will be a happy bunny.

    D&D 5E (2024) Foundry Support

Yeah I don’t use D&D beyond. I’m hopeful that the best selling products could come across hence Tasha and Tomb of Annihilation. Curse of Strahd and a few others doesn’t seem unreasonable but we’ll see.

    D&D 5E (2024) Foundry Support

Hey folks. I’m going to run my next D&D campaign on Foundry instead of Roll20 after many happy sessions running WFRP on foundry in the last 3 years. I can see that all the 2024 onwards content has been released as premium modules including Keep on the Borderlands. Which surprises me given how...

    D&D 5E (2024) Rank 5e skills from most useful (1) to least useful (18)

I wonder with surprise now just granting advantage on initiative rather than a free round of actions if this lessens the importance of perception. Though I guess any skill with the ability to impact combat at all will rank well. Not to mention being able to find treasure.

D&D General I asked AI: "What's the Most Common Cause of Character Death?"

Generative AI is great at coming up with ideas or lines of enquiry. It’s not going to weigh up all data in the universe and give you concrete outcomes that you can stake your mortgage on. It’s certainly not going to verify it, because it doesn’t yet know what the standard of verification is...

Circle Casting Details Revealed for Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerun

I really hope familiars don’t count. It should be something wonderful to encourage casters in the game world to co-operate to create impressive effects not just a way of making individuals more powerful.

Worlds of Design: Grounding the Game

There is a half way house. Imperium Maledictum uses Zones to describe where players are. So the precise positioning doesn’t really matter but it’s still easy to know where folks are. It’s quite clever and does work well with theatre of the mind.

D&D General Combat Against Player Engagement: A Systemic Challenge

Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 4e with the Group Advantage presented in Up In Arms has an interesting mechanic. A shared pool of points are generated by successful actions by any player. It means every player has a potential success by the other players. Outnumbering and tactics also has an...
